Fox: Sioux Indians, United Nations, Demanding Control of Mt. Rushmore
Fox News Channel (no link) | 5/7/12

Per Fox...

United Nations "diplomats" have concluded a tour of the U.S., speaking to Indian tribes in six states. According to Fox, many of the tribes involved told the UN they need the UN's help in reclaiming "ancestral sacred land," included in which would be the Mt. Rushmore monument and surrounding national park. One is left to wonder just what changes to Mt. Rushmore would then be made. The Obama Administration was reportedly responsible for arranging the UN tour. Just in time for the 2012 elections.

Your $3B/year UN dues at work.

If indians took over Rushmore, it might improve it. If you go to the nearby Crazy Horse monument, it is a much nicer experience.

I hope the left and the UN keep pushing it..and let’s find out how many votes there are in the next congress to take the US out of the UN.

So what if native Americans had claimed the entire Rocky Mountains as sacred? Or one or all of the Great Lakes? Or the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, or other large American rivers? How about the entire North American land mass? What then?

Now cut it out! It appears to be easy to dismiss the American Indian, the one who built large cities, erected water and sewage distribution systems, erected massive cathedrals, built roads connecting those cities, discovered Euclidean geometry, constructed boats and explored not only the North American continent but traveled to other continents!

Oh, ..... it was the Europeans that did all that???

Ummmmmm.......never mind.

I like both monuments, but the story of the Crazy Horse monument is fascinating. Ziolchowski refused to take a dime of federal money.

Well, I’m not so sure that Teddy Roosevelt was such a hero.

Goodbye, Mt Rushmore.

Jefferson is the only Democrat up there.
That ain’t enough to save it.

Look for it to be blown-up and replaced with a casino.
This administration won’t be coming to the aid of three
stone Republicans.

Of course then they can do the “new” Mt. Rushmore in
California with FDR, Woodrow Wilson, LBJ and Clinton
up there.

It could be a good thing to give Mount Rushmore back to the Sioux and have them remove all the faces.

I’d rather have them do that than for this administration to add Obama’s face with the four that are already there.

I’m wondering what happens when half a million bikers show up for Sturgis and are told they can’t come in.

I read somewhere that it’s not possible to add anybody else due the geology of the mountain.

They’re simply ‘out of room/out of rock’ and what’s already there is the end of it.

I believe it was Chief RED CLOUD who whipped the US army in several battles, yet later decided to sell the Black Hills even though other chiefs were against it.

The only land I know that all Indidans consider sacred is the pipestone quaries in which Catlinite is dug out for sacred pipes.

It is now a Monument but Indians are still allowed to gather the stone.

Ah, history, where is thy sting? First the Lakota didn’t reach the Black hills until around 1775. When they promptly drove the Kiowa, who were living there, out. The Apache had lived there, for a while, even earlier, and been driven out by somebody else.

The problem the Sioux [derived from the Objibway or Chippewa word for ‘snake’]had was they were an expanding military power [they drove the Crow off the Powder River Buffalo range in 1875 or 1876] who ran into a better one, us.And despite the Fetterman massacre, the Rosebud and the Little Big Horn, they lost. By Spring of 1877, they had all either come, or fled to Canada.

So the Lakota and the U.N can shove their peace pipe where the sun don’t shine. GARRY OWEN!
