On Tuesday, North Carolina will vote on a state constitutional amendment that declares, Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized, thereby banning recognition of same-sex marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships of any kind...
The most recent poll was conducted by Civitas Institute, a conservative think tank whose poll results have generally shown little partisan bias in the past. That survey polled Democratic and Republican primary voters separately, but projected that the measure would win by 16 percentage points when it combined the results.
An April poll by Public Policy Polling, which conducts polling for Democratic clients but whose surveys also have a track record of nonpartisanship, had the measure prevailing by 14 points.

Obama has reportedly taken a public stand against the idea that North Carolinians should declare their allegiance to the Biblical definition of marriage. You lose, BO.
Hah! And notice how he’s couching himself as “uncertain” on gay marriage, that his views are “evolving.” Meanwhile, Biden takes the beanbag hit on being in support of gay marriage.
On NPR this morning they said that the majority of americans are in favor of homosexual marriage, but they finished up their report regarding it losing when brought to the voting booth. Basically they said one side is more passionate about it than the other.
Yeah. Go figure. People being polled have this, “sure, whatever” attitude and say it’s fine. But those who bother to vote have a little more understanding of the implications and vote it down.
One of the weaknesses of our system is that it gives people the ability to choose their candidate based on how many yard signs they see.
I’m voting for it - and Leoncyzk for 6th.
What’s amazing is that native-born North Carolinians are in the minority in that state now. My friends there are always complaining about the New Yawkers moving down to work in Research Triangle, Raleigh, Charlotte, etc. Also, a large warehouse business down there has welcomed a colony of Hmong people who were displaced during the Vietnam era, and there are plenty of Hispanic newcomers as well.
I guess this issue is just a non-starter at the election booth.
I spend a good bit of time in Charlotte over the last year and although I knew its boomtown status (albeit past its prime) meant a lot of outsiders drawn by economics, I was dismayed at the lack of honey-dipped Southern tones among the public. I was even more dismayed at the surfeit of obnoxious Yankee accents and attitudes.
Any State that does not make perversion legit is a State that I like.....
Older couples living together without marriage are likely to have legal and financial advisers who help them formalize their legal relationships by contract in a way that best suits their individual circumstances.
NPR seems to be kidding itself. If "the majority of Americans" are in favor of this evil, would that reflect at the ballot box? Redefining marriage to include the perversion of same-gender pairings would win overwhelmingly IF indeed such a majority supported it. The trouble with making such statements based on polls is that people can say anything to a polling survey to seem "tolerant" but deep down inside, they don't support this nonsense and the ballot box is a clear measure of that.
This is what has happened to the New York City suburbs. The liberals move out of New York and into counties like Westchester, vote for out of control school budgets, liberal elected officials, and stupid laws (like not letting your vehicle idle for more than five minutes). They drive up the costs for the native residents who then can no longer afford to live there.
They have destroyed most of the suburbs and now move down south to wreak havoc there. If I were a southerner, I would never sell my house to a New Yorker. They foul up every place they live.
Yeah, when “polls” are different than the election results, you can go with the election results.
The libs will file a lawsuit, it will go through the courts and a lib judge will overturn the will of the people, just like in MA and CA. It no longer matters what the people want, the tyrannical liberals will cheat and lie to get their way.
Guess the zer0bummer regime and his bone smuggling constituency need to move the Dhimmicrat convention back to
Kenya?
We lived near A_Sheville until a few years ago. The large health-care industry there became over run by short-haired ladies from up nawth. The place advertises being the gayest small city in the world.
We left, moved near New Market and love it here in Virginia. Our ancestors were pioneers who came to the west before the American revolution. The Triad, Triangle, Charlotte, and the Wilmington area are over run with Strange folks.

The point I was making is that it’s amazing a gay-marriage ban would pass, given the percentage of weirdo population in NC. If it does pass, you can count on the media to characterize North Carolinians as a bunch of mouth-breathing rednecks; when in fact the state is majority transplants from liberal zones.
I’m not convinced it will pass but a judge will overrule it immediately if it does,
Tomorrow, I will be taunting my liberal NC friends as being from the “Hate State”. They are in an absolute frothing head-exploding lather over this vote. Completely irrational.
Not to quibble but here are NC population stats:
1960: 4.5 million
1970: 5.0 million
1980: 5.8 million
1990: 6.6 million
2000: 8.0 million
2010: 9.6 million
The increase of 18.5% from 2000 to 2010 is significantly higher than the USA’s overall growth of 9.7% but it may not be accurate to say that the majority are new arrivals. In addition, not every new arrival is a lefty. In fact, many who went to NC did so to escape the liberal hellholes of the north. In many ways, NC is a microcosm of the US since it has a mountainous region, the Piedmont, a plains-type region and a coastline. It’s also a microcosm politically for the reasons you, we and others have pointed out. The problem, as always, is that leftists tend to congregate in urban areas and in doing so have a disproportionately louder voice.
Let us not forget that California, of all places, was among the first to ban gay marriage, legal challenges notwithstanding. If and when NC voters enact a ban the ‘redneck’ criticism may be predictable and inevitable but by now they are one of several states to take on the issue.
The secret is that people in the South WANT Yankees to believe the dumb-hick stereotypes as it prevents too many of said Yankees from invading and bringing even more of their nonsense with them.
Libnuts will use any scare tactic to impose their warped view on the world. In Texas, they tried to tell us that our marriage amendment would invalidate ALL marriages. LOL!!!
It passed by 76% anyway. Would have been more if the naive hadn't believed some of this bilge.
Anyone know how Mayberry will vote?
I also understand that the eastern coastal third of the state is much more liberal than mainland central and west. Excepting large cities and university centers, of course, which always trend liberal.
