End of the line for inexpensive electricity for Minnesota ratepayers.

They’ll regret it when they get a real cold winter and space heaters eat up the juice.

Rolling blackouts and the resulting inability of many Americans to watch TV, surf the Web, or play with their smart phones just might be the ticket to wake them up.

Or not...

We are losing three plants in my area. Age and the EPA. Now there is a formula for disaster. It may not be immediate but an energy policy that shuts down the most available and inexpensive energy source for reasons that are at best questionable is not a policy “we the people” should stand for.

The power generators are well aware of the insanity on display by those with no skin in the game, namely the unaccountable bureaucrats at the EPA. It is just amazing, is it not what long nose busy body, in your face bureaucrats with the blessing of leftists in government, are willing to do to the American people they are tasked to “serve”.

But, but, I thought all this “nasty” energy created from coal would be replaced by wind farms and solar panels...no, uuuuhhh, what happens now...can we burn wood to keep warm? No, too nasty, too.

Well, anyway it someone else’s problem. All I have to do is “plug it in to the little holes” and all will be well...no, my bill will be so high I will only get to watch TV as the ice forms on the inside of the window panes...what a stupid bunch of people in charge now.

Methinks the RATs have really dodged a bullet here. The Natural Gas renaissance brought on by fracking will soften if not completely mask the blow that Obama’s coal policies will wreak. To the extent that only the United Mine Workers feel the pain I say, “it serves you right.” Perhaps this will buy the time necessary for “clean coal” to mature. But all this comes in spite of, not because of, Obama’s policies.

‘Environmentalists have been clamoring to shut down Hoot Lake. The company estimates it could cost $40 million to install the technology needed to meet EPA requirements, but building a modern natural gas plant to replace it could cost even more....’

I wonder if the EPA has given a thought to the lost jobs and incomes and the dislocations they are wreaking ....maybe they should assume the cost of providing livlihoods to the folks they displace or maybe they should postpone shutdowns unless and until the gas fired replacements can come on line on a timeline that makes economic sense....to everyone involved....i think they are supposed to be working for the people not the other way around.....pretty sad..

Until people are freezing and starving to death, they won’t understand the EVIL that is Progressivism. Whether it is economics, or culture, or the environment, they seek to destroy their fellow man.

It would take 384,000,000 square ft of solar panels to replace this capaity.
