My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.
We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!
We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!
And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!
Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!
The Republic we save may be our own!!
As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.
Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!
We are the resistance!!
Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!
Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!
That is the majority position. 90%+ of conservatives were going to vote for Romney no matter what this or any other website said. The idea that we should tear down the Republican nominee, lackluster though he may be, is a very fringe position among conservatives. The reaction on this thread alone shows that even amongst a group of otherwise very conservative people, the overwhelming majority were going to vote for the GOP nominee anyway. I am assuming this "truce" means now they can say so, argue their position and advocate voting Republican in the 2012 presidential general election. If true, this should prevent the very vocal minority from stomping all over the true majority opinion here. I am hopeful that we can now get serious and focus on defeating the dog eater in chief.
Of interest....From Demints site you linked.... “Senate Conservative Fund”...posted 3/23
Last week, we asked our members to vote the candidate for Vice President they like most. Members were asked to choose among the 10 most likely VP candidates assembled by the Washington Post. 8,453 votes were cast. Here are the results:
1.Marco Rubio 40.1%
2.Paul Ryan 21.6%
3.Bobby Jindal 10.3%
4.Chris Christie 7.2%
5.Mitch Daniels 5.7%
6.Susana Martinez 5.1%
7.Bob McDonnell 3.7%
8.John Thune 2.5%
9.Tim Pawlenty 2.3%
10.Rob Portman 1.5%
Several members complained about the list assembled by the Washington Post..... They expressed support for several other leaders who not included...... The two most cited omissions were ‘Rick Santorum’ and ‘Allen West’.
We polled our members on this issue because we believe the Vice President could play a critical role next year in determining the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. If the Senate is split, the Vice President could be called upon to cast important tie-breaking votes.
The results should not be interpreted as an endorsement. The Vice President won’t be selected for several months and opinions on this issue could change dramatically.
APPLAUSE!!!
To quote from his web site:
As an Air Force veteran, Ron Paul believes national defense is the single most important responsibility the Constitution entrusts to the federal government.
In Congress, Ron Paul voted to authorize military force to hunt down Osama bin Laden and authored legislation to specifically target terrorist leaders and bring them to justice.
Today, however, hundreds of thousands of our fighting men and women have been stretched thin all across the globe in over 135 countries often without a clear mission, any sense of what defines victory, or the knowledge of when theyll be permanently reunited with their families.
Acting as the worlds policeman and nation-building weakens our country, puts our troops in harms way, and sends precious resources to other nations in the midst of an historic economic crisis.
Taxpayers are forced to spend billions of dollars each year to protect the borders of other countries, while Washington refuses to deal with our own border security needs.
Congress has been rendered virtually irrelevant in foreign policy decisions and regularly cedes authority to an executive branch that refuses to be held accountable for its actions.
Far from defeating the enemy, our current policies provide incentive for more to take up arms against us.
Thats why, as Commander-in-Chief, Dr. Paul will lead the fight to:
* Make securing our borders the top national security priority.
* Avoid long and expensive land wars that bankrupt our country by using constitutional means to capture or kill terrorist leaders who helped attack the U.S. and continue to plot further attacks.
* Guarantee our intelligence communitys efforts are directed toward legitimate threats and not spying on innocent Americans through unconstitutional power grabs like the Patriot Act.
* End the nation-building that is draining troop morale, increasing our debt, and sacrificing lives with no end in sight.
* Follow the Constitution by asking Congress to declare war before one is waged.
* Only send our military into conflict with a clear mission and all the tools they need to complete the job and then bring them home.
* Ensure our veterans receive the care, benefits, and honors they have earned when they return.
* Revitalize the military for the 21st century by eliminating waste in a trillion-dollar military budget.
* Prevent the TSA from forcing Americans to either be groped or ogled just to travel on an airplane and ultimately abolish the unconstitutional agency.
* Stop taking money from the middle class and the poor to give to rich dictators through foreign aid.
As President, Ron Pauls national defense policy will ensure that the greatest nation in human history is strong, secure, and respected.
And that is what needs to stop.
The Scorpion and the Fox
One day the fox came a river, and prepared to swim across.
A scorpion was standing there and asked the fox to give him a ride to the other side.
The fox refused, saying, "If if I let you on my back you will sting me and I will die."
The scorpion swore he wouldn't do that, because if he did, he too would drown.
Although skeptical, the fox agreed, let the scorpion climb on his back, and began to swim.
In the middle of the stream, suddenly he felt a painful sting on his back!
He cried out to the scorpion, "Why, oh why, did you do that?! Now we are both going to die!"
And the scorpion, as they sank beneath the waves, replied, "It is my nature."
If they see Romney rejected in the General because of his liberalism and in spite of the specter of Obama as a consequence, just WATCH as those Rs "grow a pair" in order to save their own skins. It will have been proven clearly to Republicans in DC that being "moderate" or "liberal" is dangerous for their political health.
On the other hand, if Romney wins, they will have every reason to think it will behoove them to move "to the center," and Democrats will be hailed and praised for being so nobly bi-partisan when supporting Romney in his quest to "fix" ObamaCare to be more like what he continues to maintain is successful RomneyCare in MA; come up with the "right kinds" of cap-and-trade global warming regulation to "save the planet" and "be responsible"; going full-bore to force acceptance of open homosexuality in the military; making sure that we "compassionate" Americans will make abortion available on-demand to "poor" women who otherwise couldn't afford it; and appointing activist liberal judges to "adjust" laws properly for the most control over personal freedoms. THAT IS ROMNEY, and Democrats will look fabulously broad-minded for reaching across the aisle to support his progressive "enlightenment." No matter what you think you'd be voting against, THAT is what you'd be voting FOR.
People have given a lot of thought to what would happen if Obama won, and have done it in a vacuum; now, they should give serious, honest thought to what would happen if Romney wins. The consequences would be, IMO, more dire.
We're doomed! Doomed, I tell ya.
Thanks Yash - you always make me smile!!
But you know what I mean.
We are adults. Supposedly able to make up our own minds, discuss things rationally and to take responsibility for our own actions.
Heck, even the lefties I argue with agree with that, with the proviso of a safety net for the disadvantaged!
I love the site, have many people I consider very good friends here. But I will not be dictated to in matters of belief. Manners, sure, not a problem. Belief, well you best try to persuade me. I hung up my AS50 last year and have zero intention of “just following orders” any more. If that means I must leave, so be it.
Source?
Socially he is the same as Obama. And what about his economic policies when he was Gov? Romney is a pathological lair who will say anything to gain power.
I don't recall telling anyone to put up or shut up.
I have said, and will continue to say that I cannot and will not vote for the big-government, pro-abortion, anti-gun liberal that is Romney.

Correction : Had George H.W.Bush not tore up his life member NRA card and told the NRA he wanted nothing more to do with them, just before the election, Clowntoon wouldn't have been elected.
No Republican in modern times has ever been elected without the NRA endorsement.
The Romney Way/The Alinsky Way.
It only hurts because I laugh so hard at the weaklings/parrots/clueless mimicking it.
If you have already decided to vote for Romney in the general you are PRO-Romney.
It’s disheartening to see that so many people here either didn’t read or didn’t understand what JimRob said. The moral of the story is NOT to turn off your brain, close your eyes, hold your nose, and vote party-line Republican.
The elites aren’t worth our support. Vote for them and you become part of the problem. I’m going to go over my local races very carefully and make sure that no RINOs get my support.
Ping for later
Wrong....that's the whole point...it Does Matter how he won and that the system is broken.
The GOP's are well organized....they forsee ahead of the curve and plan accordingly....we end up 'reacting', often in shock, when they make their plays.
An example...who would have anticipated Romney would proclaim his win prematurely, and without delegates, yet a word in opposition to that came from none. And why did that happen without protest from any? None of the GOP candidates objected and that is telling.
It's not just the players on the gameboard....it's the plays and what might be expected ....and "Preparedness" to intercept...those willing to forsee these things must be in the camp.
done....and wish it was more.
I commend you for your realism - its the mark of a great leader.
I for one am not too proud. I would vote for the devil or his brother to save this country. And NOT voting IS a vote for the communists.
So I will pull the ‘R’ lever, maybe have to squint a little to hide the whore I’ll see in the mirror, but there is not a single sacrifice I wouldn’t make to preserve the republic for my children.
Now we know the battle is gonna take longer than we anticipated - OK, we didn’t get HERE overnight either. But losing to obama is NOT NOT NOT an option. IF you hate romney, fine, so do I, but I hate obama and the congress thats letting him give away ALL the riches this country has!
All the uproar over the data recorders on cars is probably one of the SMALLEST things to get upset about in S-1813, MAP-21. After you get thru the highway and infrastructure crap, you get to the meat and potatoes, and its along the same lines as capncrap and stimulator bills - it takes EVERYTHING.
Get a grip. We’ve done this before. We can do it again. It’s worth it.
I don't know who you think you are, but you have no power to zot me. 2nd. I'm not pushing an agenda. I'm asking a logical question. And you, are pushing an agenda.
1st. Ron Paul is pro-life. The fact that he believes in the 10th amendment does not mean that he does not believe in the sanctity of life. He's delivered over 4,000 babies, and as far as I could tell has never performed an abortion.
2nd, I do not ask my question, "If you can support Romney, why can't you support Paul," for any other reason than to get people to think outside the box Jim opened with this thread.
Why should we assume that Romney has won the nomination? The two largest voting blocks (delegate-wise) are still open. If every Freeper in California and Texas were to get behind Paul, perhaps we'd have a chance to stop Romney.
And if, Lord forbid, Paul actually got somewhere, he'd be a much better choice than Romney. For one thing, Paul appeals to a much wider electorate. I'm just saying. . .
Sorry mate - I should have linked the boss instead of you. I just got frustrated.
You personally - as I have come to know you - get my sword, my back or my wallet any time. Or a guy sitting half a mile away with an X30 scope, if that is what you need!
You’ll have to give up a couple of recipes though!
