Is the Obama campaign stealing information about you through your computer?
I inadvertently clicked on an Obama ad on Facebook. The ad linked me directly to www.barackobama.com.
I tried to escape the site immediately, but my computer mouse "froze" for about 30 seconds. It wouldn't move at all. I could not click out or do anything but wait.
Just to be sure it wasn't a fluke, I went to the site again (as much as I hated to give the Obama campaign any more "hits"), and the same thing happened: Mouse Freeze.
I am assuming that the Obama site was collecting information about me during that 30 seconds while my mouse was locked in place. Why else would they freeze up my computer while I was on their site?
Can websites you visit put a hold on your mouse, so that you can't move while they gather information from your computer? Is this legal?
I have not experienced this mouse lock-up in the course of normal Internet usage or visiting other sites.
Thanks!
Democrats sense my power and they seek the life essence.
I, uh... I do not avoid Democrats,Mandrake.
But I do deny them my essence.
Brain freeze??
wireless mouse?
I’d try duplicating your experience, but I’d prefer not to. Sorry.
He's a Democrat. Laws do not apply to him. And yes, it sounds like they were downloading to your computer. Hit alt+ctrl+del and hit task manager and see if any programs are running that look strange under "process". If it's a particularly insidious virus running, it will usually appear as a nonsense word such as rurjfglgl.exe...So what you want to do is highlight it and hit End process. There is some crazy stuff they can do to your comp. I had one last year that cut off my internet connection then wouldn't even let me boot up. I had to go line by line booting up then line by line in the system registry deleting and or changing all the crap they changed then deleting eveything on file related. It took me 2 days. If you are a garbage hunter, you'll find a LOT of good computers thrown out for the garbageman just because of that. That's how I got my present one plus my laptop.
It just sounds like you have a slow internet connection and the Zero site is probably tech intensive and loading the site causes your machine to freeze. That or your computer is loaded with crap like toolbars, ‘browser helpers’, spyware, and etc.
Obama has the NSA at his disposal and with their new facility in Utah they don’t need you to connect to some website to collect your data, that’s ‘old skool’. The idea of this facility is that if you connect to *anything* they can collect your data.
Use Windows Explorer, select C;/ drive, in the search box up top right, type in *cookies*, and see what’s there.
Probably a bunch of folders. Expand them and look at the cookies.
Or if your browser has Tools/Advanced/Cookies, use it to scan the listed cookies for that 0bummer site, and get rid of it. It’s probably put a tracker on your machine, too.
Do you have either Norton 360 or Malwarebytes? You can manually scan for that tracker adware/malware, if Norton didn’t already catch it and quarantine it.
Hard to say what really- happened. Beyond the above steps, I wish I could help you more. I just delete all the above crap, if I don’t recognize it, and start over with friendly sites adding cookies (username/password etc).
"Obama's Fault!"
FR isn't as much fun as it was in the old days when you could only post in Morse code. And it was good enough for us!
Pull it up in a VM running a Debugging type web browser.
Probably just all the extra Flash crap that they love to “pretty up” a site with that makes sites drag and load slowly if you don’t have enough bandwidth and fast enough PC.
A co-worker told me today, that a couple years ago, he googled what the order of succession is if the president was offed. Just out of curiosity. He said within 5 minutes, his phone was ringing. This is 8th grade civics, but still. Big brother is watching.
Haven’t been to the Obama re-election site this cycle. My guess is it’s loaded with tons of poorly codded crap to make to make it look pretty and impress the brain dead voters.
Yes, that's as likely a culprit as anything.
Jess, you might try going to the Adobe site and check if you maybe need a Flash update.
ROFLMAO! Outstanding!
For the last three or four days, my computer has been doing something strange- when I close a site, I get the little rotating arrow for eight seconds. I’ve never seen that before- I’ve got windows 7 professional and IE9. Has anyone else seen this?
Silly boy. Hussein already has a full dossier on everyone here.
