Muslims have become the third-largest religious group in the state after Roman Catholics and independent evangelicals. Not to mention, the fastest-growing one.
That's according to a census of American religious congregations unveiled Tuesday in Chicago.
This year, for the first time, the nationwide aggregation of religious traditions, dubbed the "Religion Census," counted nondenominational evangelical congregations, ranging from storefront sanctuaries to megachurches with multiple sites such as Willow Creek Community Church.
That calculation revealed that evangelicals affiliated with independent churches make up the second-largest religious group in Illinois. In fact, in 48 of the 50 states, independent evangelicals occupy a top-five spot. In the Chicago area, Illinois and nationwide, Roman Catholics rank as the largest religious group.

Just one more reason I’m glad to be getting out of this sh!thole of a state.
America is out of its ever-loving mind if it allows this trend to continue.
That’s because Obama has opened the flood gates via State Department orders.

I remember his "Keep Dearborn Clean" campaign. We all knew what it really meant.
Who would’ve thought the state of Lincoln would produce the worst President in modern times (if not all time) and the first state to eventually insitute Sharia law? Lincoln must be spinning in his grave faster than an electric fan on high.
The government has turned its back on this internal threat even going out of its way to kiss their behinds so as to not profile them in airports.
Any growth of this cancer in our society can only be a bad thing and it will require the citizens acting as the government will not.
Just out of curiosity; where are you going? We’re looking at getting the hell out of here, too.

Back in 2008 Romney was asked if he would have any Moslems in his cabinet...
To pacify CAIP etc he said if he found any who were qualified..(or words to that effect)
The next day or so a reporter asked him what he had meant and pressed him for an answer..
Willard said “Well its like this. there arent enough Moslems in America to justify having one in my cabinet. They only make up 4% of the population..”
(Since Mormons only make up 2% of the pop or half of the Moslems...I wondered what he was going even running...

Remember, Lincoln was born in Kentucky and moved with his father and family to Ill when he was 22 (after living in Indiana for a while).
So while Lincoln might have spent a good deal of his life in Il, he wasn’t a native born of the state.
And to be honest, Obama wasn’t born there either. I still believe he was born in Kenya and is not a legal president. But that’s just me. :-)
I haven’t studied this “Religion Census” but it looks to be nonsensical. 2 million new Mormons? Even the Mormon Church doesn’t claim that nonsense.

I’ve lived there once before. My property taxes in CO for the same size house I have here will be half what I pay now.
I’m IL born and raised and it’s a damn shame what’s happened here. I mean, we all know Chi-town has been a cesspool of corruption forever, but I am so sick of my vote counting for jack squat every election. Look at a map of IL in every recent election and the whole state is red save Chicago and E.St Louis yet it will remain this way into the foreseeable future.
Business is fleeing, taxes being raised which we all know will do nothing. I want to live somewhere my children will have better opportunities.
We are fortunate that the opportunity presented itself before it’s near impossible to get out of here. Once this state goes bankrupt, and it will, just try finding a job or selling house.
My advice...get out sooner rather than later.
fake statistic: Growth implies a percentage of increase. You start with a small number and it doesn’t take a large number to “increase”.
How about real numbers?
