President Barack Obama left Afghanistan on Wednesday, targeting a foreigners' housing compound with a suicide car bomb and militants disguised as women in an assault that killed at least seven people.
It was the second major assault in Kabul in less than three weeks and highlighted the Taliban's continued ability to strike in the heavily guarded capital even when security had been tightened for Obama's visit and Wednesday's anniversary of the killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden in neighboring Pakistan.
Obama arrived at Bagram Air Field late Tuesday, then traveled to Kabul by helicopter for a meeting with President Hamid Karzai in which they signed an agreement governing the U.S. presence after combat troops withdraw in 2014. Later, back at the base, he was surrounded by U.S. troops, shaking every hand. He then gave a speech broadcast to Americans back home, before ending his lightning visit just before 4:30 a.m.
The U.S. president, who is in the midst of a re-election campaign, touted the Navy SEAL raid that killed bin Laden a year ago Wednesday, noting that the operation was launched from a base in Afghanistan.
He also said that "the tide has turned" over the last three years.
"We broke the Taliban's momentum. We've built strong Afghan security forces. We devastated al-Qaida's leadership, taking out over 20 of their top 30 leaders," he said.

Nope, a mozilla user here. But, after some thought; and further postings; I do think it might well have been pilot error : /
Waay too many open tabs, and some reallly slow load times may have had something to do with it. Rather Sheepish Look.
The good news is, that I know who to look for on my next techy type question ; )
Thanks for the reply, and God bless.

There are credible reports that Afghan Army units will switch over to the Taliban as soon as we cease military operations.
That’s what they did after the Russians left.
BTW, AQ appears to be gone from Afghanistan and leaving Pakistan. There is a growing hatred for all Arabs for having invited so much death and destruction to the Pahktun.
That explains why AQ is heading for Syria and Yemen en masse. AQ believes that the Syrian regime will fail and Iran’s influence fade away.
Given Syria’s location, it would be an ideal platform for AQ and the Muslim Brotherhood that they are loosely affiliated with. The Muslim Brothers are tied to Zawahiri’s AQ and the UBL faction has an uneasy partnership.
Hell, Nixon only got four in Ohio. But Obama’s got a ways to catch up to the Clintons’ smashing victory at Waco.
Did the O Reelection Team give the Tolleybahn a copy of the video as a “recruiting tool”?
Naturally! Just as "after the Russians left", now after 11 yrs of war, there is still nothing to "switch over to", only the Taliban!
AQ, Taleban, MB, Iranian regime, etc.. they are more or less the same, same ideology, often minor differences in tactics. They will never leave the moslem world & related individual countries.
The moslem world has been in a right royal mess, and we really haven't been helping it through our "invasions", "interventions" and/or policies. Ours has been: with one hand giveth & the other taketh. Very confused policies that will continue to backfire on us..

woops, didn’t mean to post twice. It really must be a FR glitch!
“President Barack Obama left Afghanistan on Wednesday, targeting a foreigners’ housing compound with a suicide car bomb and militants disguised as women in an assault that killed at least seven people.”
Am I still asleep or does this article imply that BO targeted a foreigner’s house?
Here’s a policy that’ll work, though: Drill, baby, drill. $60 a barrel. Cheap, bloodless, and fiscally sound.
Sorry babe ;-) it won’t work. At least not for the Neanthral in chief:
