I like how Virgil Goode was AGAINST the idea of his mother not being able to have a cigarette on her deathbed if she desired.
I read a tiny bit about him today - he seems Good(e). !
Of course, I’m right with you on your post.
The conservative “calvalry” will be lulled into a false sense of security if Mittly is elected.
The only other thing that might happen, IMHO, if Mittly is elected is that perhaps the Euro-American-sovereign debt bubble will pop and cause a dramatic economic collapse around the world - and this would happen on the Republican ESTABLISHMENT’s watch.
And they will be clueless as to what to do. And it will provide a chance for the scraggly conservative parties around the country to actually develop into a replacement party.
Perhaps by 2014 Congressional elections or maybe 2016, we will be talking about Democratic (Socialist) and a new conservative party as being the two parties.
Perhaps no parties at all - go back to the way it was at the initial founding of the nation. Elected officials try to do what’s right, citizens watch them, the law is not watered-down and it’s enforced. And people who serve for their own gain get rooted out by incessant public scrutiny. And those who actually are “serving” are successful people who don’t need the paycheck and benefits; they serve a few years and then go home.
We think this is so impossible today but think about it - with today’s technology - it’s actually easier to monitor and publish than it was then ! The monitoring and publishing is already starting to happen ! (Thanks FR and many others !) !
I don’t know, but I do know the Repub establishment is lookin’ like a run-down has-been party of folks who don’t really understand their own purported principles, they simply want to have the power of being elected. IMHO, need more character than that to successfully stand up to commies.
While I support the concept of a 3rd party we don’’t have that luxury. Where a 3rd party comes into play really is under the parlemetary system . We don’t have a parliemtary system. The founding fathers with good reason learned from the English system and why our constitutoon is created the way it is including the dekegate electors system.
That means that a candidate for the executive branch must understand this and when annoucing and running for that office work within that complicated system.
Those who advocate getting conservatives and constitutionalists elected in the legislative branches are on the right track..
With Romney we can only hope he sheds his seeming naiviete and like Reagan whom I actively supported in his tripple attempts to reach the presidency has a “epiphany”. Reagan did on many issues and did change if you review what he did as governor of California.
Right now for example we have a Chinese blind dissodent in our embassy he’s there because of the one boy child policy of that govenment. His Romneycare supports population control and by the way in his earler time so did Churchill. I use that as an example.
What is extremely frustating about Romney is that with Obama missrepresenting a Romney statement about taking out OBL. But the reason Obama brought that up was to get back at Clinton because there is great dissatisfaction with the commie economics Obama has been using which is actually Fascist because he and his supporters are doing well.
But There’s Hillary in the wings awaiting.
What I suggest is to fully back those legislators who are conserative and the reaminder of the primaries support Santorum whereever he on is on their ballot and hope that Obamacare get killed outright by the court or if it doesn’t Romney would pledge he would support repeal.
This is such a stupid @ss thread, like all the others trying to convince each other how to vote. It’s a waste of time that degrades into verbal sparring on level with pissy 3rd grade girls on the playground. News flash, we all know it sucks to have Mitt. Shut up and vote however the hell you want, but don’t expect your emotional outburst vanity post to change anyones mind.
The last time a non-Republican, or non-democrat won an electoral vote was 1968, George Wallace.
FR favorite got 0.5% of the vote in 2000. Ross Perot did much better, but likely threw 1992 to Clinton.
Greens, Libertarians, and plenty of other 3rd party fantasies pass almost unnoticed by the voters.
Reality check is a good thing, from time to time. As always the next Potus will be a Republican or a democrat.
I agreed with you about Santorum. But no way would Romney’s Supremes picks be as bad as Barack’s. Sorry. If a house is on fire you have to save what you can. Romney’s the only fire extinguisher left.
This election is ours to lose. The economy stinks, unemployment is still at record highs, home prices continue to fall, job growth is miniscule, gas prices have doubled, food prices are up....
Do I need to go on? Defeating Obama is #1 this time around. Will I vote for Romney? You’re darn right. And yes, a no vote, vote for unknown candidate, or a write-in vote is the same as a vote for Obama.
There is reason to be disciplined in this election year. If we falter, Zer0 will be reelected.
“Given this, I have decided, for the first time in my life, to vote for a Third Party candidate for president in November. If no one with more national name recognition emerges, Virgil Goode will be getting my vote. I encourage others to think about it and do likewise.”
Here here, I agree with you.
Cheers!
Good analysis. Vote for the best conservative in every race, no matter what party.
The biggest problem with scenario three is that dictator 0bama will “bypass” congress, as he has taken to doing, and forget about losing conservatism for a generation, and start worrying about losing The United States of America!
Well the OWS yesterday has for all purposes handed Romney by “default” this coming November.
Correction:
Well the OWS yesterday has for all purposes handed Romney the election win by default this coming November.
