JACKSONVILLE, N.C. Two Camp Lejeune Marines returned home early Sunday morning to find two men in their house. The intruders didn't make it out of the house alive.
33-year-old, Maurice Skinner and 33-year-old, Diego Everette were identified by police as the men killed in the burglary attempt. Both men are from Jacksonville.
Skinner and Everette were pronounced dead at the scene, but according to Jacksonville Police Chief, Mike Yaniero it is unlikely that anyone will be charged in the shooting.
"The investigation is ongoing, however at this time there is no evidence to suggest that criminal charges be filed."
Chief Yaniero says the department will increase their patrols in the neighborhood.
"We'll be in the neighborhood. We try to stay in those neighborhoods but we will be especially vigilant in that particular neighborhood in the next couple weeks."
Marine Corps officials have not released the names of the Marines who shot the intruders.
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. Authorities continue to investigate a Sunday morning shooting during a burglary that left two intruders dead.
The shooting happened around 2 o'clock Sunday morning at 107 Country Club Drive.
According to police, three residents returned home to find two intruders in the house.
Police say the intruders attacked the residents and gunfire was exchanged. The two intruders killed have been identified as 33-year-old Diego Everett and 33-year-old Maurice Skinner, both from Jacksonville.
The three residents of the home were treated and released from Onslow Memorial Hospital. Two of the residents are active duty Marines based out of Camp Lejeune.
No charges have been filed at this time. Jacksonville police say they are working with NCIS and the Jacksonville District Attorney's Office on the case.

"Otherwise, the Marines would have had to kill them with their bare hands and that would've been much more painful."

The Marine resident and Skinner were struggling on the floor. Skinner said, You are going to die now and squeezed the trigger of the shotgun repeatedly, Lee said. The gun did not fire. Apparently, Skinner did not realize that while the Marine resident kept the shotgun loaded, he did not keep it pumped and chambered. The Marine resident was able wrestle the shotgun from Skinners grip. Skinner came at the Marine resident, who was on the floor, and the Marine resident shot Skinner twice in the torso. What a blessing they were killed - these two could have gone on for years making life a horror for so many. I doubt their families will miss them after a month or two...

Did the article mention if either burglar was wearing a hoodie? No But I would lay odds that they were only looking for bags of Skittles.

According to the link you provided, the two dead guys had 9 kids between the two of them—one had 5 and the other had 4. Lowlifes.

Anyone who hasn't read the whole article really should do so. The US Marines had a hell of a fight on their hands and a lot of luck going for them. One of the perps took a shotgun slug in the a$$ which exited his abdomen and kept going till taken down with a wine bottle. Bravo Zulu Marines!

The Marine resident was able to kick Skinner and free the shotgun from Skinner's grip. Skinner came at the Marine resident who was on the floor and the Marine resident two times. That there is one hell of a paragraph. Another high school dropout wrote this article.
So, there's a Marine resident and the Marine resident who was on the floor. I guess the "Marine resident two times" either re-upped or he lived in the house two times. Was he on the floor, too? And then there's the "one civilian of 107" mentioned earlier.

Correct and according to their obituaries, it looks like there are several different mothers as the children either have different last names and/or live in different areas.

Makes me kinda feel bad for these guys. What are the odds of breaking into a place and having a couple of Marines come home.
