Christian groups in South Korea called on Friday for pop icon Lady Gaga to cancel her concert here saying it was pornographic and promoted homosexuality. South Koreas government has already bowed to public pressure and banned under-18s from attending the 26-year olds concert, but protesters gathered outside the venue said that was not enough. Some people can accept this as another culture but its impact is huge beyond art and debases religions. Even adults cant see her performance which is too homosexual and pornographic, said Yoon Jung-hoon, a reverend who organized the Civilians Network against the Lady Gaga Concert.

When it comes to dirty shows, I'm in favor of the community acting together to either get them to change the show or drive them out of town and maybe out of business. Dirty shows strike against the community at the level of civilizational warfare, so "hands-on" is the best response.
She reminds me of a male transvestite. Her raw meat “dress” was revolting.
I agree, I participated in very nasty protest sitiations when The Last Temptation of Christ furor was here. I know exactly what the battle is about.
BUT state mandated morality is not the way to go, in fact it is a liberal way to go, if they could tax churches and elect a Morality Czar liberals would be all over it...no reason for believers to open the door for them!!
Besides, IIRC many Christians martyred themselves because they would NOT comply with a state ordered “morality law”...which the average Roman also believed was vital for the security of the republic.
I agree and that’s what I think this is about, not primarily government censorship.
Well... You are.
And I actually love her anthem — Gd makes no mistakes, I’m beautiful in my way — I was born this way. You know how wonderful that song is for kids with differences?? It’s not only for gay kids. It’s for kids with any disability, any “looks,” etc. they are all beautiful and Gd makes no mistakes. Gotta give her that.
Are you serious? No one is saying if you like to rape people it is ok. Your perceived self perception of being a great debater exposes you as a moron. Get real.
Pretty much sums up how we got in the mess we are in.
No one is demanding you give up any rights, they just seem to think screwing in public is not a right. Guess what I agree with them. Dogs in heat, can't help it but humans are supposed to be a little higher order of development.
If you haven't learned to control your self then maybe you should practice a little bio feed back or some other new age crap to help you control your baser urges. Public Sexual displays are just repulsive, and have nothing what so ever to do with freedom.
Maybe Christians should cut the heads off of non-believers or riot and burn buildings. Then they’d be respected.
What is it about freedom that scares you so much?
What is it about a Lady Gaga concert that scares you so much?
What is it about the Constitution that scares you so much?
A government with the power to ban a Lady Gaga concert is a government with the power to ban a Promise-keepers event.
Government power is a sword that cuts BOTH ways.
Oh, but THIS time the power will ONLY be used for GOOD!/s
Good for the ROK. There is always North Korea.
I dont want Goverment dictating what I can, and cannot watch.
Freedom means you have the right to do what you want, even if it is short-sighted and stupid.
Are you denying that some people like watching child porn? Or are you saying that your libertarian views don't extend to them?
In other words, do you presume to be the line drawer on morality?
The place to fight the likes of Lady Gaga is in the congregation not the Congress.
Just a little thought: what if Lady Gaga’s proposed show violated existing statutes in South Korea, or in the stadium, or in the community in question? Would it be okay to demand that she propose a show that is fine by standards of some decency? Would it be okay if laws against well, being scantily clad or naked wearing meat were passed by referendum or appeal in a country?
Uh, I kind of think you’ve missed the point of Christ’s incarnation in human form.
The pure libertarian view as Ive always understood it, is that we all have unlimited rights to live and do as we choose as free and responsible adults, fully responsible and accountable for our own personal actions and decision, both positive and negative up until the point that my or your right to live as we choose and our actions infringes upon my or your or someone elses right to do the very same.
A child; victimized and raped and assaulted and filmed in a porno flick is having their rights and most basic human dignity violated and being a child, is not at all capable of freely consenting to such activity. Thats what makes it a crime to make and a crime to knowingly purchase and watch and I think most libertarians agree.
There might be a few very fringe and extreme and very sick and misguided individuals who say Kiddie porn is OK but they certainly dont represent most Libertarians or libertarians i.e. conservatives with a strong libertarian leaning.
A libertarian might also make the point that if I hire a worker and that worker is a mentally competent and consenting adult and is perfectly agreeable to working for me for $2.00 an hour and without health insurance, what business is of the government to force me to pay minimum wage and provide health insurance and force the worker to accept that arrangement? If on the other hand, if I see you walking down the street, hit you on the head to the point of unconsciousness and brutally force you to work for me for whatever pay or for no pay and under what ever conditions I dictate without giving you any choice to freely walk away, then thats slavery and thats a crime.
You might choose to not see the difference, but it is there.
Maybe YOU missed the point. Hint: It’s called sarcasm.
Ah, and there's the rub, isn't it? You run with your artificial, uninformed presumption that there is a cut-and-dry differentiation between non-infringing actions and infringing actions. But it is not that cut-and-dry, except in your own selfish value judgements.
What if I point an unloaded handgun at you? Is there any right of yours that is infringed? What if I show you that the gun is unloaded?
Your response is that you are threatened; a feeling, while no actual physical harm is done - moreover, no actual physical harm is even possible. But you would be correct. The pointing of a gun, even unloaded, at someone is a threatening gesture, by societal standards.
And yet you would deny the FEELINGS of others who feel just as threatened, and provably, justifiably so, by societal poisons like "Lady GaGa."
Really? Really? So Lady GaGa is barging into your home in the middle of the night and under threat of bodily harm, forcing you to listen to her music? She is forcing you to listen to only radio stations that play her music, forcing you to watch MTV? She has reprogrammed your car radio and CD player so that it plays nothing but Lady GaGa? Shes hacked into your credit card and downloaded her songs to your I-pod against your will? She is forcing you to spend your hard earned money and forcing you to attend her concerts against your will?
Somehow Ive been able to remain Lady GaGa free despite it all her threats and the weight of her brutal force. There is such a thing as an off switch and you might want to learn how they work and there is also such a thing as, you dont like it, dont listen to it.
I like all kinds and types of music BTW and will even admit that I even like a few of Lady GaGas songs that Ive heard.
On the other hand, I really like and prefer classical music and am a big fan of Mauler and Wagner. So I guess that makes me anti-Semitic?
There is such a thing as a grip; I really suggest you get one.
