Mitt Romney and the Republican Party's sizable bloc of evangelical voters are about to engage in a marriage of political convenience.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee's march to the nomination proceeded largely without strong backing from the conservative Christian community.
But with Romney now the only hope that conservatives have to beat President Barack Obama in November, a partnership has begun to jell.
Gary Rose, the chairman of the politics and government department at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., agreed. "Santorum was their guy, but more important is their agenda of dislodging Obama," he said. "I don't believe they'll stay home."

Amen!!! Many investors I know have left the country and their money with them.
Yes they have, and even though the big money people love liberal politics, most of them like money even more. The best part of them is they are so ignorant, they give money to the occupiers, many of whom really would “eat the rich”. Its kind of like financing your own death, weird, huh?
The investors I know that have left are conservatives. The way this country is going, is savd. I just came from South America, most countries there are booming, 6% + vs 2% grow in the USA.
Also, McGovern wasn’t an incumbent, and his ethnicity wasn’t a factor. Two big differences between that race and this one. This race is more of a 1984 Reagan/Mondale race. On the winning side you have a candidate who is passionately loved by his base and on the other side you have an uncharismatic bore who isn’t liked by his base, independents or his opposition. In both cases you also have an incumbent who inherited a bad economy so he can always argue that the other party handed it to him and he needs more time to fix it up.
Fiscal conservatives as well. The GOP isn't interested in reforming a damn thing. Newt would have reformed welfare, unemployment benefits, Social Security, the income tax, the whole kit and kaboodle. Romney doesn't have a single economic reform in his platform, just the same old status quo or meaningless tinkering.
The only reason we even got Palin as V.P. was because McCain was suffering in the polls. People need to get that the only way to help conservatives is for Romney to keep doing as poorly as possible in the polls, in the remaining primaries, in fundraising, and in any way the base can fight him. This whole idea that “we need to rally around the nominee” is pure propaganda. We’re seeing before our very eyes how all those dictatorial countries control their populations by controlling the media, except we’re seeing it working within the specific Republican bloc, who is mindlessly buying everything their great party leaders put out through their “friendly” media.
Romney’s trailing the popular vote by much worse in this primary. He’s only got 42.3% of it.
They must remember Reagan and Jane Wyman so well.
I’ll not vote for Romney. Clearly a liberal.
Vote Goode, Constitution Party. Clearly a conservative.
In other words, Romney could very well win by default then?
Not mentioning any names here just gonna do it;)
Nope.
Romney CANNOT WIN.
Why? WE, and everyone ELSE, WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM.
ROMNEY DECREASES VOTER TURNOUT. Which is why
the DNC and Soros and the MSM picked him.
There is a sizable purist population, but I believe in the end it will be smaller than the vote Obama out population. All the issues about Romney which come under a spotlight on, say, this website will scarcely be visible to the average voter looking at the jobs and economy issues with a very worried eye. In the end Obama will dig his own political grave and Mitt (if by some miracle someone else is not the candidate) will probably crow about it as if he was something special.
Romney has absolutely NO CHANCE of beating Obama.
None whatsoever.
It is why Obama, the MSM and the MarxoFascist Left in conjunction with the Ruling Class GOP-e, chose him to be the nominee against Obama.
I will never compromise my principles again by voting a ‘lesser of two evils’. Been there, done that.
It’s a trap.
One too many of you are willing to play out of fear.
And the enemy has you right where he wants you.
As much as many here wish they could channel and control the public mindset to punish the GOP by refusing to give Mitt the nod in November if he is the candidate, I do not believe in practice it will happen. Look at what is happening on Townhall, for another point of view. In order to win, Obama historically would need to be far ahead of the presumptive challenger in polls at this point on the calendar; he is not.
Basically, and this is without actually cheering for Mitt Romney, the truth is that Obama is so terrible and inspires so much disgust that he would lose even to Mitt Romney. If there were a Democrat incumbent who was better than Obama, Mitt Romney wouldn’t have even gotten the time of day from the GOP. Dirty Democrat tricks took down the “better than Mitt” candidates and Mitt is the last man standing.
Obama has every chance of losing even to Mitt Romney.
You say Mitt CAN'T win but then I was not in the room when God granted you divine infallibility.
Right now the public and particularly conservatives are being badgered to take in Romney when during his campaign and after he has not made no real effort to appear on most conservative talk shows or approach tea party groups. Hes got some talkies carrying water for him only to move 10 feet forward and find another 5 gallon pail to either to trip over or pick up containing some some lib position hes just dropped off on his way to the White House..
While SCOTUS is set to rule on Obamacare in June I for one am not that certain were going like what they come up with. Obamacare has got to be thrown out. The only way I for one will feel Romnney would support that is if and when he repudiates Romneycare as a mistake. I dont trust him on his EPA positions, or on Obamacare.
To do that for the remaining primarys. If Santorum os on their states ballot they should vote for him and his delegates.
Can Satan cast out Satan?
You really think one evil is able to cast out another evil?
You’re all dreaming.
Or you have no principles.
Or what you think are principles will not stand up in That Day when you have to give Account.
There is the ways of men that say better one evil man than a worse evil man, and then there is the way of God, which says do not EVER compromise with evil, as God has no part with darkness.
And on the merits, Obama and Romney have the same evil record, anathema to our principles and foundations, especially where God is concerned.
