Two days after posting lowered earnings for the first quarter of 2012, Hasbro Games reportedly will not recall approximately 150 union employees who had been out on temporary layoffs. The employees received notification earlier this week that their layoffs would now be considered permanent.
The company, which said the East Longmeadow facility has been operating very efficiently with a workforce of about 330 unionized employees. Hasbro expects this facility will continue to operate at this level of employment, which means that we will not be recalling certain employees who have been out on temporary layoff.
Hasbro Inc. posted a first-quarter loss on Monday, weighed down by costs related to staff cuts and weak sales of My Littlest Pet Shop miniatures and other girls toys. Results from the maker of Monopoly and Transformers missed Wall Street estimates, and its shares fell over 5 percent.
According to the quarterly report, revenue also slumped, sliding 3.4 percent to $648.9 million compared to the first quarter a year ago. International markets increased 14 percent from a year ago, but sales in the United States and Canada, however, dove 16 percent to $329 million.

That’s Life..........I guess they don’t have a Monopoly on success.............
No fun and games under Bark Obama.
Do you think this means 150 more votes against OBummer?
This is additional background info explaining Monte Cook’s decision to bail on WOTC as a DnD Next/5e designer. They will probably push 5e out way before it is ready/play tested.
Poor Hasbro... nothing but Trouble and Headache.
“Do you think this means 150 more votes against OBummer?”
Union members now on the dole?
Nope, 150 MORE votes for Obama.
Been years since I played any boardgames...........wonder why......
They'll vote 0bama under the expectations of lifetime unemployment at a higher rate than their previous wages.
Oh No!! They will send EPA there to crucify five of the management team so the company will be easy to control and do the WH bidding. They'll be back and reimbursed lost wages, doncha know!
Or maybe Hasbro will be deemed too big to fail and need to be taken over by the government.
Well when you subject this economic news to the Liberal R/D Formula you can see if its good for the economy.
Hasbro laying off 150 people and the President is a "R" works like this: 150 UE +(POTUS = "R")= Worst Economy in "X" number of years ["X" = number of years since the Great Depression Ended]
Hasbro Laying off 150 People and the President is a "D" works like this: 150 UE +(POTUS = "D")= 150 more Stimulus Checks and the President saved or created "X" number of jobs. [Wherein "X' = whatever number the Liberals pull out of their collective asses)
I guess they were caught in their own Mousetrap.........
So hasbro is a union shop?
Will keep that in mind next time I buy a game (not theirs).
Are these Office Jobs, like they coordinate the Shipping?
Or are these the Internal Affairs people who pull stuff off of Youtube and think up new ways to tick off their fans?
Never fear. President Etch-a-Sketch is on the way!
“Do you think this means 150 more votes against OBummer?”
Take the 150 and multiply it by the average number of voting-age family members and close friends. The math doesn’t look good for our clean black man without a Negro accent...
“Union members now on the dole? Nope, 150 MORE votes for Obama.”
I don’t think so; going on the dole is a drop in standard of living, and these people will probably not get jobs that apid as well elsewhere. The dole is a clock ticking, and there is no way these people are better off than 4 years ago (when they still had relative security).
