Voting for Romney? Where is your line in the sand? (Vanity)

Posted on 04/26/2012 9:18:03 AM PDT by Student0165

I want to ask those who consider themselves conservatives, and are going to vote for Romney because he happens to have an (R) instead of a (D) behind his name on the ballot sheet, where do you draw your personal line in the sand and say "No more"? For stupid people reading this (liberals and DHS type workers), I don't mean violence - I mean not voting for "the lesser of two evils".

Mitt’s picks won’t be much better.

By not voting, you vote for Barry. As for Mitt not being conservative enough, remember Gitmo.

I will not vote for Romney.

Reasons he is no better than Zero. Romneycare, no support for the 2nd Amendment, massive government spending.

Also if he gets elected and we win the House and Senate (which I believe will happen) then what is to stop the Repubs from just spending and doing everything Romeny wants.

If Zero wins the Repubs should and hopefully will fight tooth and nail against him. They will not do that with Romney, with a Romney win it will be spending like under GWB.

Those that do not vote for Romney must make the case that a victory for 0bama is preferable. Write ins, not voting, or voting 3rd party is futile and will not advance conservativism or stop or even slow down the march to socialism.
0bama will turn the nation into a socialist dictatorship; our republic will be gone. He will do this through court appointments, the adminsitrative state and executive fiat.
So, if you want a civil war, and inescapable decline, let 0bama win through the indifference of not voting, diversion through a 3rd party, or the active support of 0bama. George Soros, no doubt, is doing this very thing by hiring 5th column bloggers posing as conservatives that claim that they cannot tolerate Romney under any circumstance.
Question for those that oppose Romney? Would you vote for Romney over Chavez, Romney over Castro, Romney over Mugabe?

If all of the conservatives who said "I don't like Romney but we have to vote for him to vote out Obama" would actually vote their conscience and get together behind a credible third party candidate, that third party candidate would have a fair-ro-better chance of winning it all.

Remember Ross Perot? Third parties don't win.

Like it or not, politics is a numbers game, and the majority of the electorate is not conservative.

At some point you have to quit figuring odds and just do the right thing.

If conservatives are no longer capable of doing that, that scares me far more than the prospect of another term for Obama ever could.

My first vote I ever cast was for Ronald Reagan. I haven't voted "for" a President since. It has been many elections of voting "against" the other guy and I'm getting tired of it. At the same time, while I really didn't like many things that GWB did if I went back in time knowing everything I would still take him over Gore or Kerry. It's a question of driving towards a cliff at 50 mph or 100 mph.

If I was a pure idealist, I may not even have voted for Reagan. He did run deficits, keep social security in its present form, compromise with Tip O'Neil and pass amnesty. But, he was the best to deal with the Soviet Union and the Carter malaise. My ideal candidate now doesn't exist. I didn't hear any candidate supporting the repeal of the 16th and 17th amendments and privatization of social security. But, I am honest enough to acknowledge my ideal candidate would not have won.

Those that do not vote for Romney don’t have to make a case for anything. It’s a right and a privilege to not vote for Willard Romney.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, yet what so many here choose to ignore.

Look, at the start of the primary season, Mittens wasn't even in my top 5 list. But he's the nominee, so I will hold my nose and vote for him, because another 4 more years of Obama will all but destroy this country, even if the GOP controls the House and Senate...judicial appts are just one aspect of the damage Obama can do.

Here's something to consider: Assume, hypothetically, just for the sake of argument, that in 2000, Bush was as disliked by conservatives then as Mitt is now. There are more than 2000+ FReepers in Florida. If 25% of them had refused to vote for Bush, (on principal) then Gore would have been president. That's a scary thought..Fat Albert in the Oval office on 9/11

Thanks for your reply: “At this point, to be a true conservative. “

Was there anyone in the primary that met your standard?

Third parties don't win.

Well, prepare yourself for a Republican Party that no longer wins, then. Because they are well on their way to third-party status.

Looks like another ‘vent’ post.

I would call this choice another ‘lose-lose’.
(OK, but which one is the bigger lose??? LOL)

I remember deciding it was OK to vote for Mccain in 2008 only after I was sure he would lose, which was a little less than an hour before polls closed, not that it mattered in this state anyway.

Megyn Kelly in the FNC Election room reporting issue based exit polls just before I went to vote made it clear that McCain would not come close to winning.

Given that my state will give it to Obama again anyway (no matter what no doubt) I am thinking that my casting a protest vote for Romney against Obama is pretty pointless anyway, even if I was sure that Romney would lose.

Like many others here I am pretty sick of primaries already being over by the time they reach my state. That alone is a reason to give the R party the finger,

Reelecting Obama with a veto proof Congress will guarantee his impeachment.

The "First Black President" IMPEACHED?

You place WAY too much faith in politicians.

Romney: some good (e.g. Supreme Court picks). Bozo: all bad.

--------------------------------------

I was for Daniels, then Perry, then Newt. Now I'm stuck with Mitt or wasting a vote. I look at these issues to ease the pain...

Energy, Israel, business, executive experience and knowledge, foreign policy, the incumbant's utterly divisive tactics (some fools here bark like they actually want a hot civil war), the world's lack of respect for us, the assault on religion...

Conservatives would love to be in control of the second party in a two-party system. Then Republicans, from their newly discovered third-party status, would be welcome to join us. Whatever.

My line in the sand is on the side that will prevent Barry Soetoro from sticking it to us in a second term.

For all you better-than-thou conservatives whose moral compass prevents them from voting for a less-than-perfect man in this completely screwed up world, I will pray for your souls while despising your actions. Any vote not cast or thrown away as a statement is a vote for this current jerk!
