Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who was elected to his first term with help from the Tea Party in 2010 and who is sometimes cited as a potential GOP vice presidential pick, lauded the United Nations, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for following their respective visions instead of asserting narrow American interests in a speech today on U.S. foreign policy.
In remarks at the liberal Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., Rubio sketched the advances made globally since the end of World War II as a result of Americas leadership.
The purpose of the institutions we established, from the United Nations to the World Bank and the IMF was to spread peace and prosperity, not to assert narrow American interests, said Sen. Rubio.

In his initial remarks, Sen. Rubio sought to separate himself from some conservatives in the Senate on foreign policy, saying that until recently the general view was that American conservatism believed in a robust and muscular foreign policy, citing Presidents George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. talbott
But when I arrived in the Senate last year, I found that some of the traditional sides in the foreign policy debate had shifted, said Rubio. On the one hand I found liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans working together to advocate our withdrawal from Afghanistan or staying out of Libya. On the other hand, I found myself partnering with Democrats on a more forceful foreign policy.
So I recently joked, the other day, that today in the U.S. Senate, on foreign policy, the further you move to the right, the likelier you are to move to the left, said Rubio.

Draw up some Conservative talking points to get elected, then shack it up good and start over with what you truly believe.
DITTO man DITTO!
He was born in the USA and meets all other requirements.
the eligibility lawsuits would be filed immediately and it would just bring unecessary chaos to the GOP presidential campaign.

Now that would be hilarious because if they hear Rubio’s case, they have to here the Kenyan’s. Maybe that is the main reason the Obots are so afraid of a Rubio VP choice.

“...Well, we have to admit this: There’s not a whole lot of passionate excitement behind Romney. But the alternative? People don’t want any more of this. They just don’t. ...”
I have been trying to find where that is a requirement for Art. II eligability and I can't. Where is defined that both Jus Soli and Jus Sanguinis are required? I'm not trolling. I understand the social and political arguement but I can't find the legal one.
They’re all RINOS now and must be destroyed. I am dreading the day IF Sarah Palin endorses Mittens, then they will ALL be RINOS. No conservatives left. What then?

“I think this Rubio fellow is a wolf in sheeps clothing.
Yes, and its discouraging.”
I think some posters on FR are trolls in conservative clothing-and THATS discouraging.
Sounds to me like he's defending the U.S. saying we didn't start these institutions for some self-serving purpose but to spread peace and prosperity.
But that probably won't matter to the lynch mobs on FR. They're worse than the Trayvon crowd for finding someone guilty without even hearing the other side. Tiresome.
Read not just what he said, but what known scoundrels said about him at the same time. Sorry, but the nonsense from people like this has gone on long enough. If you lay down with skunks, you get up smelling like skunk.
What he said was not just rhetorical flourish, but an open embrace of anti-Americanism, no better than when those Supreme Court justices decided they should look to international law for their decisions, not just limit them to US law and precedent. Not their job.
The verdict is still out on Rubio with me. I do not look at speeches as much as I look at actions e.g. 0b0z0.
...Third, we must reject protectionism and instead embrace the ultimate goal of a free trade area of the Americas. The recently approved free trade agreements with Colombia and Panama was a good step. We need to move forward to bring both Canada and Mexico into the Trans-Pacific Partnership...
Disgusting.
