More details are starting to emerge about the 'wild night' of partying in Cartagena, Colombia that has engulfed the Secret Service in a growing prostitution scandal.
The Washington Post reports today that some of the men involved are arguing that they did know the women that they brought back to their hotel were prostitutes. Moreover, some of the agents have reportedly said they did not have sex with the prostitutes because they "were so drunk that they fell asleep immediately after bringing the women to their rooms."
Twelve agents were implicated in the scandal, although one has since been cleared of serious misconduct. Eight of the agents have been ousted from the Secret Service. Two agents face demotion, and another has been recommended for dismissal but can still work for federal agencies.
The Post reports that some of the agents who resigned are now reconsidering their decision, and have claimed that similar behavior was tolerated by agency supervisors on other official trips.

Yes Honey, I did hire a hot, Colombian hooker but I was too drunk to do her. So it's OK it doesn't count.
Then they're stupid. What did they bring them to their hotel rooms for? canasta?
"they 'were so drunk that they fell asleep immediately after bringing the women to their rooms.'"
Doubly stupid. Strangers can pick pockets. And what kind of grown man gets drunk out of his mind like that? And is impotence a confession of lack of stamina in the Secret Service?
Spin to defend themselves from their wives.
It wouldn’t surprise me if one or more of those women had connections to foreign governments or narco-terrorists.
Maybe the one who didn’t want to pay was too drunk to fully enjoy the services offered, hence the argument.

“some of the agents have reportedly said they did not have sex with the prostitutes because they “were so drunk that they fell asleep immediately after bringing the women to their rooms.”
Sounds like something the married ones are telling their wives.
Oh yeah! That would make it all better with my wife!
I just got a mental image of a bunch of guys in suits, with radio earpieces in their heads, a bottle of scotch in one hand, and a bag of cheeseburgers in the other.
I’m surprised they didn’t claim peer pressure, or obama made them do it.
I really think there’s a coverup happening. Why would Hill be exposed at the same time? There was much partying going on as if celebrating some secret deal.
We’ll know the truth when divorces start being filed. Till then, I believe the SS were well paid to be scapegoats.
Here I sit,
Upon the pooper
Just shat out
An SS trooper.
Here I sit,
No noise, no drama
And here he is—
Barack Obama!
Yeah. They tell you that. And in those companies here or especially in Asia, if you don't play along at the strip club whatever, then you don't make the sale the next week. And the hoity toity company will penalize you as well.
While these government slime have no excuse, buying the customer booze and women are absolute reality sometimes in rthe real world.
Twelve agents acting like a congressman.
So even the guards of this great nation are now impotent.
My company often sent folk to Singapore - and if they did something inappropriate and it was discovered - the result was often immediate termination. This included drug use (even if it is legal there), underage girls, bribes, kick-backs, and drunken parties.
I don't know about the other items on your list, but I assure you that drug use is illegal there, if by "there" you mean Singapore. I'm assuming you mean recreational drug use, not the taking of aspirin.
So they think it’s a plus admitting that they were in the weakest condition mentally and physically?
Being sooooo drunk is best excuse?
Keeping their wits about them would be a bad thing?
Making themselves as vulnerable as possible to almost any kind of threat is a good excuse?
Yes, I was referring to recreational drugs. If hashish, marijuana or whatever was available there; and you decided to indulge, your job was in jeopardy.
In many companies, especially when dealing with Asian clients, image is everything.
If you come off as a drunk, pot-head or are known to frequent prostitutes - your company’s image suffers as well. Now, there is a gray-area a mile-wide. If you go to a topless bar with the client, you may buy them a few drinks, maybe a nice steak dinner (and some of these clubs have fabulous meals). But, it stops there. If you want to tip the ‘help’, you use your own money. Plausible deniability.
But, if they send a woman to your room - and your boss finds out - so ends your career. If you paid for a woman to go to your client’s room - and you paid for it with company funds - expect to go to court.
Now, did a few guys hire hookers with their own funds, and do this discreetly? Absolutely. Did everyone? Nope, but a lot of them did. But, this was highly discouraged, very dangerous and professionally risky. But, I’m sure it happened.
