Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says he expects to endorse Mitt Romney.
Santorum says that he believes Romney is the right guy to challenge President Barack Obama. Still, hes stopping short of an official endorsement of his former rival.
But Santorum tells CNN that he will ultimately support the GOP presidential nominee. And he says its clear that Romney will be that nominee.
Santorum says he plans to meet with some of Romneys staff on Wednesday. And he hopes to meet with Romney personally in the next week or two.
Santorum once accused Romney of being the worst Republican to face Obama. He consistently questioned Romneys conservative credentials.
But he now says the priority is to defeat Obama in November.
I wonder what Rick’s sale price was?
If Newt drops out, our only hope is a brokered convention. Hopefully someone will step in and get control of the GOP back from the moderates.
Just when I thought that presidential elections couldn’t get any worse .......
That's the only part of this statement I can agree with.
I’m glad I voted for Newt. I wish Rick would’ve waited until after the convention, but I can’t say I’m shocked.
swish...........That’s all my respect for Santorum flying out the window.
I’m wondering, too. Did you happen to catch Mark Levin last night? He was talking how weird it was that Rudi G. and Coulter were all very critical of Romney in the beginning, and then began to praise him.
He’s crazy too.
Newt dropped out this morning - apparently effective next Tuesday. And how exactly is there any chance of a brokered convention? Romney will easily have the required delegates as there is no longer any competition. There isn't going to be any contested/brokered convention.
The problem is that no one will just step in and take control of the GOP back from the moderates. The GOP is a lost cause. Any conservatives who continue to support the Republican Party are masochists.
It’s time for a genuine Conservative Party.
I back(ed) Newt, not Rick but I believe Rick is doing what he’s doing here because he believes it’s the right thing.
The only brokers at the GOP convention will be the swells from GoldmanSux who bought futures on Mittens and sold Obama short 3:1, starting late last year.
I hate hearing it but it’s the classy thing to do. A lot of Freepers here what Rick to blast Mitt but for what? We are late in the game and just get it over with. If it’s Mitt, just do the 2008 McCain...hold your nose and vote because the objective is to kick out p-resident Dog Eater.

This had nothing to do with all the boogie men in your dreams and everything to do with we conservatives not being able to stick together.
If we can't stick together in the R party, how are we going to stick together in the C party? What's the difference?
Go back and read FR between Sep'11 and Feb'12 and tell me that ultra extreme sentiments expressed for and against various conservatives (Perry, Gingrich, Bachmann, Paul, Santorum, Cain... all conservative to one degree or another) wouldn't have been expressed had they all been running for the nomination in another party.
The problem isn't in our stars, it's in ourselves.
All of the candidates sucked, Newt just sucked the least. How can anyone reach consensus with so much suckage.
*heavy sigh*
I guess all of ‘em tow the line. While Rick was my man throughout, and I’d still love to see him as POTUS, I wish he had the b***s to stand up to the Elite on this one.

There isn't going to be any contested/brokered convention. Some of the Ron Paul websites explain that most of the delegates are actually going to vote for Ron Paul at the convention.
I wonder if the Obama administration is secretly dusting the population with LSD.
Not enough votes to get an actual Conservative nominated within the Republican party - and you think you have enough votes to win a national election with a third candidate running against both a moderate and a leftist?
I would say “Good luck” but I wouldn’t mean it.
That’s funny, Levin supports Romney too.
Only difference, he will criticize him while supporting.
