You didn’t miss much. (Saw it on Broadway with one of my sisters as a favor to her.) Had I known the story line, I would have begged off.
I was truly surprised to read the program notes at this musical, as I was sure that someone else had just pieced together a story around ABBA hits. But, no, the lazy ABBA members just recycled their old “hits”; there was very little new material.
So, although this show offends sufficiently with its obnoxious plot line, it also is an insult artistically.
This sister just loves Broadway, and I love her dearly, but, after that one, I said I would not set foot in NYC again. (We have since gone to the Hippodrome in Baltimore, though. I live in MD, and she lives in PA.)
