...what was the most POSITIVE Nostalgic memory all of you have from your Childhood.
OMG! We totally could have hung out!!! lol.
Eddie? Is that you from St Joseph’s Home for Children?.
Childhood, for me at least, is too far in the distant past. The weather this morning, however, is terrific!
Going to Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm with my Grandmother. Taking the Santa Fe Train to San Diego from Los Angeles with my Grandmother. Those where great times!!
My cousins, brother and I roamed alleys and dropped them in 55 gallon steel drum trashcans, when people still burned their trash.
WHOOMPH! And then a big column of ash in the air.
Desilu/Dick Van Dyke...
That is AWESOME!!!!
Taking off on our bikes on a summer morning, disappearing for hours, and coming home when we were hungry. Following that up in the evening with a good game of hide-and-seek until the street lights came on. Simple pleasures and a feeling of safety.
REAGAN,THATCHER,POPE JOHN PAUL...JOHN WAYNE,RAT PACK,
THE BANDIT,DUKES OF HAZZARD, EVIL KNIEVEL, LYNARD SKYNYRD
QUADS, MOTORCYCLES,HUNTING,FISHING, AND “THE IGGLES”
Bet ya a 10 spot, ya wouldn’t know I grew up in Jersey huh?
Well, SOUTH Jersey that is...
Were we the only ones who rode big tires downhill until it plopped over on it’s side?
You still could be though. haha. Actually it makes sense to me. You sound like you have a lot of vim and vigor—EXACTLY what a mother of four needs to not only survive it but do it with authority and finesse ;-). WHich I am sure you are doing. Hell you are a conservative woman. That right there tells me you are NOT a pack animal looking to fit into the latest gril clique.
Before bedtime, we sat on dad’s lap and he made up stories for us.
Sometimes he played the harmonica... he learned to play it in the army. He was my hero.
Scrambled egg sandwiches with my dad at 11 pm. My room was behind the kitchen, and I’d hear him putering around and slip out of bed. He’d always make one for me. We’d be the only ones at the table. special times.
I don’t know where to start...so I’ll say having 6-8 of us kids walk through our suburban neighborhood with BB guns and pellet guns, on our way to the abandoned gravel pit across Allisonville Rd. to shoot cans, birds, whatever....
Try doing that today.
Watching my favorite cowboys on black and white TV on a Saturday atop a horse my dad made out of a small beer keg - Roy Rodgers, Hopalong Cassedy, Gene Autry, all morning long.
And my mom making peach ice cream on a Sunday afternoon.
Going with Richie Kaufman on his birthday to be on the Howdy Doody show when I was a kid in New York in the 50’s.
Probably not since I didn’t know a scene got cut. We had so many hot rods at the filming it was hard to find a place to park.
Innertubing down the river with extended family. A perfect day.
Hope that doesn't disappoint, but it's Friday, so you'll forgive me (us?), shirley, Shirley ?
