White House press secretary Jay Carney said Thursday that President Obama wasn't referring to Mitt Romney when Obama said he wasn't born with "a silver spoon" in his mouth — saying that anyone who believed it was aimed at them might "be a little over-sensitive."

"Those of you who have covered President Obama know that he has used that phrase to describe his background many times in the past," Carney said.

"I suppose anyone who thinks it was a reference to them might be a little oversensitive ... unless they think that when President Obama said it three years ago, it was a reference to them," Carney said.

Well, context matters. Romney's going to be the nominee and everyone knows Obama loves the class warfare stuff. So it was the natural conclusion to draw.
