Mitt Romney will take a victory lap before members of the Republican National Committee when the party meets at an annual event in Scottsdale, Ariz., this week
While Romney is not formally the party's nominee yet -- he has not clinched the 1,144 delegates required to secure the nomination, and two other candidates remain in the race -- party rules all but guarantee he will win enough delegates to claim the nomination on the first ballot at the GOP's convention in Tampa. Recognizing that reality, Romney and the RNC set up a joint fundraising account earlier this month to begin raising the big bucks it will take to compete in the fall.
And yet Romney won't be speaking to an entirely friendly crowd. While he has secured support from the bulk of the committee's members, at least two state party chairs support other candidates. A.J. Spiker, who heads the Iowa Republican Party, backs Rep. Ron Paul, while Georgia Republican Party chairwoman Sue Everhart is bound by party rules to back former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Another gem, from the “silent” majority.
Larry Aull writes : “ I attended my first Tea Party meeting on February 13, 2009 in central-Indiana. I attended the Taxpayers Rally on the grounds of the Indiana Statehouse on April 13, 2009. I also attended the Tax Payers March on Washington on September 12, 2009.
The Democrats laughed, mocked and criticized us and called us GOP astroturf. The Republicans watched us from behind windows because they had no idea what to make of us. They were afraid that they might get their collective faces a little dirty.
Of the four remaining candidates for the Republican nomination for president, only one stood firmly with us from the beginning; Newt Gingrich. He didn’t do it for votes. He didn’t do it to get media coverage. He did it because he believed that we were right in our concerns as well as our demands. He knows that we no longer control our government, it controls us.
Newt Gingrich is the only candidate who has stated that his campaign is a people’s campaign. The media lies. The parties lie. The truth is, they all fear a Newt Gingrich candidacy because he is truly an architect of change. The very change that we have been formally and passionately demanding for over three years now. For my way of thinking, he has always been the right choice. Of course, I might just be a little prejudiced. After all, I am a concerned American.”
When we jumped in , Romney was at “more favorable” over 53% ...

When I vote here in Texas, I’ll look at who’s on the ballot. Basically, you have the top tier, which is Rick and Newt, and you have the bottom-feeders, which are Paul and Romney. Given that Rick has suspended, that means Newt likely gets my vote - because as far as I know, he’s still running.
That’s a wonderful testament!
GO NEWT!
I detest Romney for his vicious attack ads and for idiot voters falling for them.
