The General Services Administration official tasked with organizing a now-infamous $822,000 Las Vegas conference plans to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights ahead of a scheduled Monday grilling on the Hill.
On Thursday, House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) served a subpoena to require Jeff Neely to appear before the committee, according to Democratic committee documents obtained by POLITICO. Neelys attorney on Friday informed the committee Neely will exercise his right against self-incrimination and requested not to attend the hearing.
Requiring Mr. Neely to travel from California to appear before the Committee when you have been advised that he will not answer any substantive questions posed to him does not advance any legitimate Committee purpose, the attorney wrote, according to the documents.
Issa wrote Neelys lawyer Friday to advise the attorney and Neely that the subpoena remains in effect.

It would just be a BIG WASTE OF MONEY!! BWHAAAAHAAAHAAAAA!
As a government entity, and thus a government employee, pleading the 5th is utter BS. The entire office should be thrown in jail.
Democrats - Thieves, Thugs, Thralls and Thickheads
If you vote Democrat, you’re one (or more) of the above.
You know he’ll be traveling on the government’s tab.
The corruption at all levels of our Government is overwhelming. There isn’t one area of Government that is clean any more. Politics has become a cesspool of gimme groups that feed their greed by entering Government positions and sucking the life out of them.
If Obama had any guts he would fire every one of the attendees at this conference. Remember Ronald Reagan’s en masse firing the air traffic controllers?
Nah. To a Democrat this action is a resume enhancer. Once the hullabaloo winds down, he’ll get promoted.
Every SOB in those videos and anyone else who took part in this GSA scandal, willingly, should be fired immediately, pension forfeited and never hired for another job...
.
ABSOLUTELY corectomundo!
Pleading the 5th? Seriously? Then the feds should oblige the witness, and promptly open up a criminal investigation into the matter. Until now I thought the GSA debacle was simply gross mismanagement but if the witness is pleading the 5th perhaps that’s an indication more may have been going on than I suspected. Kickbacks? Conflicts of interest in contract awards? I don’t know but I was surprised by the assertion of the Fifth Amendment which often is invoked if the witness feels he or she may expose him or herself to criminal culpability by the testimony.
Those GSA employees know how to take a fifth.....or a quart.....or a half-gallon.
You know hell be traveling on the governments tab.
When he’s done testifying, do it again.
