In light of Trayvon Martins murder making national headlines, and the arrest of shooter George Zimmerman this week, Philadelphia City Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr. thinks we need to change our states laws so the same sh*t doesnt happen here. And since some of the controversy in the case allegedly revolves around the Florida polices hands being tied by that states Stand your ground law, he wants Pennsylvania to repeal the Castle Doctrine. The Castle Doctrine, a less extreme version of some states Stand Your Ground laws, was signed last year by Gov. Tom Corbett after having been vetoed by former Gov. Ed Rendell. Jones says his resolution is meant to avoid future kills and riots. Were asking the legislature to repeal that law because copycats are everywhere and so they are going to test the theory of whether or not you can be the aggressor based on some trumped up reason, Jones said. We dont know whats going to happen in court whether the assailant will be found guilty or innocent. But I can tell you if he is found innocent there will be replications of that and people will be fighting in the streets like in the Old West.
Jones also introduced a bill to Council amending the Philadelphia fire code which would allow one and two family dwelling to use battery-powered smoke alarms if they are equipped with 10-year non-removable (sealed) batteries. Council also honored fallen firefighters Lt. Robert Neary and Daniel Sweeny with a moment of silent and resolutions....

So this Neanderthal wants to repeal God’s natural law of self-preservation.
Is that about right?
Unarmed people tend to ask gov’t for help.
Armed people do not.
Philly’s always had “it’s own laws”, apart from the state’s. This BS is just getting started; watch for it to pop-up in other states, cities and towns. The gun-grabbers are going to run with this like crazy.
Why wait for facts?
That could be a ‘Caption Pic’ thread of its own . . .
With or without the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law, George Zimmerman would have defended himself. The law means nothing to almost everybody. Watch the Zimmerman case and see if I am not right.

Well he sounds like a man of the people, article throws in last minute junk at the end to convince you. Sorry not sold! Major effort to allow criminals of color to get away with murder. Back dooring social justice. Zimmerman case is used by these cretans and is not even close
Another reason to give Philtadelphia to Jersey.
Philadelphia is a bad place to have to defend yourself. You are pretty-much guaranteed that the prosecutor, judge, and most of the jury will be more sympathetic to the thug you shot.
Venerable: commanding respect because of great age or impressive dignity; worthy of veneration or reverence, as because of high office or noble character: a venerable member of Congress.
I was thinking of an entirely different continent...
This way the thugs can use your kitchen floor to bash your head in, instead of the sidewalk.
Have to suspect that Jones’ proposal is because it affects Jones’ business interests. Cannot have people shooting his people.
This fellow is so assinine. The Castle Doctrine just allows you to use lethal force when your home is invaded and you feel threatened....as a sensible person would be.
Stand your ground is an entirely different concept.
There are some really stupid people out there.
Running by the pool is dangerous. It would be an absolute tragedy almost beyond human comprehension if he slipped and cracked his skull. How could the nation go on?
