Could George Zimmerman be the October surprise?
Depending on the timing of legal developments in Florida, the court proceedings and possible trial of Trayvon Martins killer - one of the highest-profile and most racially charged cases in years - could be thrust into the middle of the 2012 presidential election.
Legal experts and political consultants disagree over what that would mean for President Barack Obama and the presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
In recent press appearances, Zimmermans attorney, Mark OMara, predicted that it would be at least six months and possibly as long as a year before his client faces a trial. The short end of that would put the case smack in the homestretch of the White House contest, while the long end would make the trial a non-factor in the presidential contest.
But theres another scenario that makes it more likely that the case could play into the 2012 race.
Under the so-called Stand Your Ground law in Florida the controversial measure that until this week had allowed Zimmerman to avoid an arrest after the Feb.26 shooting in Sanford the accused can ask for an evidentiary hearing to try to have their case tossed out. That hearing could take place within a matter of months...

Chief race pimp Jesse Jackson is in Tulsa today making the most out of the shootings in north Tulsa. No. 2 chief race pimp, Al Sharpton, is going to be in Tulsa on Sunday. I hope a tornado blows him back to where he came from.
Good points.
However, the situation is far different now. We have a black liberation communist in the White House. The stupid voters thought that electing a black would appease the black Americans, once and for all. The stupid voters never researched the communist. Now, we have an America-hating, white-hating monster, and slowly, people are waking up to the horror. A race riot would focus on the communist, as he already identified with Trayvon. Holder would make it worse, as he allowed black thugs to put a price on Zimmerman’s head. Look for Holder to interfere with the judge, just as Obama has threatened SCOTUS.
“According to Dershowitz, the judge could very well toss the case.”
She should, the “probable cause” just isn’t there. Even a liberal like Dershowitz can see that. However, this judge wants to be reelected. She won’t toss because she at least has to go through the motions of a trial she knows won’t result in a conviction. She knows it is a hot potato and trying to get out by saying she has a conflict of interest.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe there is a judge brave enough to toss the case. Plus, the special prosecutor needs to be charged with misconduct. Nobody is that brave.
the judge disclosed she has a conflict of interest because her husband is a CNN analyst.
she wants out, I hope.
Oh really, M.J. Lee?
"Stand Your Ground" was not applicable to this case according to Zimmerman's then attorney on March 24.
His new lawyer suggests a hearing will be held on its applicability and, not surprisingly, Trayvon Martin's family lawyer is playing heartstrings demagoguery that "Stand Your Ground" must be repealed in his memory.
Whether or not "Stand Your Ground" is even applicable here, the Left will try to use the Zimmerman case as a wedge against the 2005 law and they'll do it in all states with similar laws like Oklahoma. Never let a crisis go to waste. /s
I'm also not surprised more lies are being disseminated about what the dispatcher said. The dispatcher never told Zimmerman not to follow Trayvon, the only thing said was, "We dont need you to do that," when he answered in the affirmative to whether he was following.
CBS spins this as "Zimmerman ignored dispatcher warning."
Political whores everywhere!!
I’m sure they won’t be visiting Indiana...this is interesting!
