Tea party leader warns Romney: Don’t expect us to campaign for you (Iced Tea)
Daily Caller ^ | 4-13-12 | Alex Pappas

The leader of the Tea Party Nation organization has a blunt message for likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney: Tea partiers will likely vote for you, but don’t expect them to get energized and campaign for you.

“The tea party is not going to coalesce around Romney,” Judson Phillips told The Daily Caller on Thursday. “Most of us will vote for Romney, but we will not be out there with signs for him or in his campaign.”

Phillips said that surveys conducted on the Tea Party Nation website have shown that about 25 percent of tea party activists say they won’t vote for Romney in the general election.

-snip- Another conservative leader, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, struck a similar note after former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum dropped out of the presidential race this week.

“It’s difficult for us to back a candidate our constituents don’t believe in and aren’t excited about,” Perkins told CNN

I wonder why the GOP elite didn’t think of it before pushing the lying, etch-a-sketch, liberal down our throats.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

When are FReepers on here going to quit blaming the GOP elite for the Conservative demise of the 2012 Primary Season? It’s our, The Conservatives, fault. We have to take most of the blame for ONCE AGAIN, ending up with a RINO nominee. Let me explain why?

Where are the “good” Conservative Candidates? We don’t have that many to begin with, but: Where was Jim DeMint, Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin, et. al...... I’ll cut Sarah some slack because her family has already pulled a hitch in hell. But, why did none of the “good” Conservatives, who would have been electable, even get into the race? And the wack jobs we did get, had such friggin’ egos, they could not coalesce around one Conservative and the RINO ended up wining, Primary after Primary, by a plurality. Finally it winnows down to the Final Four: Kook-Daddy and the Three Stooges.

Why did the friggin’ Tea Party not ENDORSE one Conservative candidate? Because they’re as splintered as the rest of the Conservatives are. Hell, look how divisive the people on this website are: Many hate Romney, many hate Newt, many hate Santorum. People called for Newt to drop out. Well, Rick had RINO-Rom practically all to himself in MI, IL, OH, and Puerto Rico and got his butt handed to him.

So, when are we gonna quit blaming the GOP Elite because we haven’t learned a friggin’ thing from past Primary Seasons. We keep running the same cycle.... over and over and over and over....... Just damn!!!

So who is more to blame? The GOP elite who force an lame candidate or the voter who will not support a lame candidate.

There is hope, hope, hard work, and money can produce results. We just re-routed our twice used Newt signs that were going to Arkansas and Texas to North Carolina. I’m sure most of them will end up in Texas but may miss Arkansas. Newt’s right, don’t give up until someone has the real 1144 comitted. Even talking about voting for Romney agaist obama gives the rinos reason to take our vote for granted.

It’s a funny thing about some conservatives. They don’t seem to grasp that not everyone everywhere is by their own choices worthy of liberty. Yes its a noble thought, but some people such as the people of Massachusetts are not worthy of being free men & women.

What Mitt did there to help them get what they wanted, a further enslavement to the Socialist state was perhaps deserving of the people who choose to live & vote in Massachusetts. I have no problem with leftist robing each other of their individual rights and thus by extension individual life choices.

I am not going to spend my money and resources saving them from themselves. I think at some point theses people need to be allowed to try their socialist schemes so that they can demonstrate to all the world what a foolish failure they are.

We conservatives on the other hand need to watch carefully and keep track of the accounting to make sure all the world sees the true costs both in money & liberty.

I had not thought about your idea that the GOP elites wanted to shrink the tent and get the Tea Party out. But now that you mention it, it makes a lot of sense.

First thing is the Tea Party has been taken over by politicians, their ideas are still better than the alternatives. Where the Tea Party will make a difference is in the halls of congress! The presidential spot will probably never be won by the Tea Party. What they are setting up for the coming election is another Perot moment so we will end up with the same scumbags that we have had for the last 3+ years. Sorry, I will not do this. We have to take the medicine that will make us less sick. Face it, we will have 2 choices for the next election, republican or democrat. A vote for any other candidate is as good as not voting, but you will feel like you have voiced your opinion, good job, feel better. Guess what? You lost.

I'm a conservative. On a conservative web-site. Saying that I will vote conservative. And I get accused of being responsible for re-electing Obama.

I would think that unprincipled Republicans are the RAT party's favorite tools. You know... conservatives in name only...

I don’t believe this. I am a tea party member. I will vote for Romney and I will maybe get a yard sign or a bumper sticker.

Obama has given us fair warning (although inadvertently) that if elected he will double down on his destructive policies.

There will be no drilling, no tax cuts, no cutting of destructive agencies like the EPA. The NEA (both of them) will have free reign to indoctrinate our kids.

Our foreign enemies will have no respect for us at all, toothless pussy cats as we will be.

I won’t risk it. I’ll work for Romney.

It ain't over till it's over. You seem to be calling the Primary a little bit early.

And by your logic, conservatives can never win.

Sorry dude, free societies are messy, and folks don't agree. That's reality.

I'm an American.

I think and speak "fly-over country" American interests and values and have a deep love for my country and the universal values expressed in our founding documents.

I want to hear a similar, from the head and heart, love and understanding being expressed from the person I vote for or I don't vote for them and will join the campaign against them.

I don't hear "American" from the demonrats/progressives. I hear the exact opposite.

What they are saying scares the hell out of me and demands someone to fight what they've done!

And, unfortunately, we don't get someone like that from the GOPe.

In fact, Romney sounds more like a former accountant from the UN who is trying out for a used car sales job.

“Romney has NO shot....zero.....zilch.....nada.”

Romney has no shot because he is all over the map and lies about it. He is attacking Obamacare these days after running on a platform of supporting his Romneycare in 2008 and wanting it implemented on a national level. Plus, he still supports his plans and sees nothing wrong with it. In his view, the two plans are vastly different. Yet they both were crafted by the same people and Romneycare is a model for Obamacare. The individual mandate is in both and that is what the supreme court is looking at to decide if Obamacare should end.

Basically the tea party has every reason to be cold towards Slick Willard. Some videos.

I would like to blame the GOP-e for putting us in the pickle we are in, but the non-mitts failed when they needed to succeed. Perry failed, Cain failed, Newt failed, and Santorum failed. It was one big bucket of fail for the non mitts. The GOP-e certainly helped, but a good candidate could have overcome them, as Reagan did so succesfully.

I’m not convinced we are talking about the same set of horses.

Because of the nature of Mitt’s past Governorship and the nessity of his political positioning thereto it is impossible to accurately judge his true positioning now with respect to the present position he is now running for.

I cannot reiterate enough the need to distinguished between state level politics & policy’s and that of Federal Politics & policy’s. We must Never allow ourselves to fall into the trap of believing the 2 should be fully equable. To do so leads us down the dark path too many of our politicians have taken in treading Washington like a 2nd usurper State government.

You STFU. You GOP-e types have a lot of nerve commenting on a conservative website with your commie crap. You can take your favorite socialist and shove him where the sun don’t shine.

There is a reason it is called the TEA “Party.” The GOP has joined the marxists in the dems party in trying to destroy this country. The TEA parties want to stop all of you commies and socialists from taking things over. Conservatives can join together in TEA parties to get away from all of you marxists.

By the way, one of Alinsky’s biggest tricks is Mitt Romney. If the dems want to use Alinsky tricks on anyone, I can’t think of any more deserving candidate than Mitt Romney son of an Alinsky acolyte. His dad bowed to Alinsky and the son is even worse than the father.

If I were you, I’d tone the Mitt drool down a bit. Last night a few Mittbugs got zapped good and they weren’t half as obnoxious as you.

Why don’t you go join your friends at the HuffPo if you want to STFU conservatives?

This is gonna be a close election.Osama Obama is *absolutely* beatable.Very much so.But he's beatable *only* if every single Republican...every single conservative...donates and votes.

Osama Obama & Friends rejoice every time they read a story like this. They fire up their crack pipes and celebrate by ******* each other up the ***,as today's "progressives" so often do.

You are making the assumption that conservatives will just stay home. Not a single conservative I have talked to said that is what they are going to do. In fact, most of us who will not vote for Romney will vote GOP down ticket and write in a protest vote for president.

I'm making my assumptions based only on electoral history. The best measure of voter intensity in a Presidential election year is the strength of the Presidential candidates themselves. If Obama cruises to reelection, as many FReepers assume he will, history shows that there is a great likelihood of Democrat candidates being elected as well.

My point is not to be fooled into thinking that denying Romney office to send a message to the GOP establishment is free of down-ballot consequences; punishing the establishment may turn out to be punishing overselves.

You may be angry that Romney will probably get the nomination. You may dislike Romney’s politics. But to say he is a dummy is not only wrong, it weakens your message.

They should realize that Newt is running to save America. He is not running for husband and none of us are going to marry him!

I don’t even have to hold my nose because I respect what newt accomplished before—the actual changing of America for the better—and we NEED him to do it again!!!

Ah, but you are spending your money doing just that, if you pay Federal income tax. And, if Obama is given free reign to implement more of his Socialist ides in a second term, you'll be paying for even more of it.
