PYONGYANG, North Korea -- Defying warnings from the international community, North Korea launched a long-range rocket it says is carrying a satellite into orbit, 2 U.S. officials said.
When the 90-ton rocket launched there was a larger than anticipated flare.
U.S. officials said that the missile is believed to have crashed into the sea.

Dateline Pyonang North Korea: In an uncharacteristic unveiling of military defense secrets the North Korean government has reported it successfully tested a land based anti submarine missile today.

NBC’s Richard Engel was camped out in N. Korea for their Dear Leader’s most excellent rocket launch. Funny, I didn’t see Engel reporting the epic fail, or could I have zoned out and missed it?

U.S. officials said that the missile is believed to have crashed into the sea. This is what passes for a "confirmation" of facts now? Mere belief?

‘Comrades!’ ‘Attention, comrades! We have glorious news for you .... Our satellite is orbiting the Earth!
All over our glorious nation this morning there were irrepressible spontaneous demonstrations when workers marched out of factories and offices and paraded through the streets with banners voicing their gratitude to our Dear Leader for the new, happy life which his wise leadership has bestowed upon us!

I wonder how many Nork 'rocket scientists' have been lined up against a wall and blindfolded by now.........

The satellite is now successfully in orbit at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. I guess that makes it geosynchronous. It does in fact go all the way around once every 24 hours.
