- During a meeting with 18 Delaware Tea Party leaders here on Wednesday, Newt Gingrich lambasted The Fox News Channel, accusing the cable news network that employed him as recently as last year of having been in the tank for Mitt Romney from the beginning of the Republican presidential fight and singling out former colleagues for attacking him out of what he characterized as personal jealousy.
I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through, Gingrich said during the private meeting at Wesley College to which RealClearPolitics was granted access. In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than Fox this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of Fox, and were more likely to get distortion out of Fox. Thats just a fact.
Gingrichs contract as a Fox News contributor was terminated last spring, as he was gearing up for his White House run.
The former House Speakers blunt remarks about Fox came in response to a question from one of the Delaware Tea Party leaders about the manner in which his campaign has been treated by conservative media outlets.
Gingrich did not pull his punches in accusing Rupert Murdoch -- the chairman and CEO of the News Corporation, Fox News parent company -- of pushing for Romney behind the scenes.
I assume its because Murdoch at some point said, I want Romney, and so fair and balanced became Romney, Gingrich said. And theres no question that Fox had a lot to do with stopping my campaign because such a high percentage of our base watches Fox.
Gingrich saved his most personal condemnation for George Will, a conservative columnist and frequent television commentator, who has been critical ...(read more)

They do understand it, they don't care. This is their golden opportunity to put in a Progressive because everyone is screaming ABO.
Not a Dimes Worth of Difference.
This is not a Pro Romney site, and your posts are many.
Almost everything good and bad about Newt is captured in this one story.
I expect I will just wonder around forever worrying that you don't respect me.
No one will get what they deserve from this election, else there would not be a Dg
OPe left after the storm.

That's my dream and plea to the Almighty.
Pres. Gingrich, VP West, Energy Sec Palin - etc.
The Socialists and the Establishment would be cut off at the knees.
Should Newt become the nominee - he will have one very big bulls-eye on his back
I never thought I'd see the day, but I am seriously considering pulling out of the GOP and going “Independent”

We need to do what we can to put as much pressure on Romney to pick a conservative nominee (and other conservative concessions as you say). Romney will not pick Newt or Santorum, because if he was considering them for even a minute he would not went almost 100% negative on them for months and months. But maybe he will pick another conservative.
But hopefully Newt can win a few conservative states like maybe a Nebraska, Arkansas, South Dakota, Kentucky, or West Virginia (these are the only states where Newt will have any shot at all by my view). These are small states and will not give Newt anywhere the delegates to gain the nomination, but it would hurt Romney from the right and gain some media coverage of Romney’s problem with conservatives. Maybe, just maybe this will help prevent Romney from moving any further left.
Probably this is a fantasy of mine now. Probably Newt will not win any states, and if he does Romney probably will not care. But what else can we do now?

Thank you,FRiend.
Watched this last night on CSPAN—thanks for the link, so I can watch it again.
Newt did a great job, and fielded many questions.
We hope that he will return to DE next week. Our primary is the 24th.

I agree with what you said on every point.
Newt will not be picked to be on any Romney ticket.
Newt is reportedly working under the radar, one on one, with selected delegates, uncommitted and committed, and will be working for more delegates as the race continues on to upcoming states.
Remember, Newt will get Florida delegates he earned that went instead to Romney, because Florida was being punished for running early, but not until the convention will that issue be ironed out.
So Zot me already...
You know, posters here complain about a vast GOPe conspiracy, but at my caucus people showed up and voted for all four candidates. Most voted for Romney.
No one forced the majority to vote for Romney in the states that he won.
Romney beat our guys. He had the money to run the ads and control the story as you say. Isn't that basic to our system? It isn't a conspiracy of media and backroom power brokers.
Romney has bags of money and spent it to persuade people that Newt would not win. It seems to have worked. I know a prolife leader in my state who I've worked with over the years and she supported Romney because she thought he was the only one who could win.
They are wrong, but their minds have not been taken over by invisible GOP-E-Rays.
That was my perception.
Thanks TBF! It looks great!!!
