Now we will put to the test what was always an odd claim, namely that Mitt Romney is well positioned and well equipped to defeat Barack Obama this fall. This is a man who lost by 17 points to an incredibly weakened Ted Kennedy (people forget how vulnerable Kennedy was that year) in one of the most pro-Republican years in history, 1994 (the same year in which Rick Santorum won yet another upset victory); a man who would have been handily defeated if he had run for re-election as governor of Massachusetts in 2006; and a man who could barely squeak past his GOP opponents this year despite running almost non-stop for nearly six full years and despite outspending all of them combined by at least a 2-1 margin, while outspending each of them individually by at least 4-1 and running ads that were 90% negative against them.
Plus, he's a perfect caricature for Obama's anti-corporate-elite message to take root. Plus, he's plastic.
The GOP establishment -- the money men, the consultants who so repeatedly spread the message that only Romney could beat Obama while they angled for a piece of the lucrative campaign pie, the hangers-on and officious kingmakers, and the cultural elitists who secretly share much of the big media's cultural attitudes and disdain for middle America -- now must prove they can actually deliver a victory. If they can't, the GOP should have a figurative bloodletting that banishes them forever from party power.
Nonetheless, every conservative, and everybody who loves this country and cares about its traditions, its Constitution, and its freedom, should do nothing other than help that establishment succeed....

Far more damage is going to be done to "American's soul" with eight years of Romney and other Democrats and weakened Republican party (which will be devastated by a Romney Presidency) than it will be by a lame-duck President and stronger Republican party (which will see a growing number of conservatives elected).
Yes. The comment is either an example of hyperbole or paranoia.
Resistance will grow stronger to Obama in his second term that, ultimately, will produce positive results.
If Romney is elected, all the gains we made in 2010 are wiped out and we're back to where we were under Bush after the 2008 election.
I am not unaware of any of the facts you have unnecessarily recited. I allowed for them when I used the term “rare” and didn’t use a term like “unprecedented”.
Careful reading is a valuable life skill.
Ya’ll could of supported Newt, but nooooo....
But of all the Democrats during that time, none, not Jimmy Carter and not Lyndon Johnson, represented a threat to the survival of the country.
If you can credibly assure me that the Republic will survive four more years of Obama, I will rest easy with his reelection but then in logic you must forgive me if I do not behold in terror the prospect of Romney's election.
The question is the survival of the nation, not the survival of a party that has never been pure.
Instead of making snarky comments, why not just admit you were wrong and didn't have your facts straight. It will be understandable since you're a Romney shill.
That isn't the issue. Romney is far more liberal than even George W. Bush. Other liberal Republicans (Nixon, Ford, Bush 41) did tremendous damage to the nation, far more than a lame-duck Democrat will do with a Republican congress.
My 2 cents,
F**K Romney
F**K the RINO GOP
If even SOROS says there`s not a dime`s worth of difference between the two then let their messiah drive the US economy over the cliff at 100 mph instead of RINO Romney doing the same thing except at 55 mph
That is debatable but let's just consider one vital aspect of conservatism: fiscal responsibility. George Bush was certainly irresponsible and I believe we can be reasonably sure that Romney will be far less profligate than Bush was. Bush left us in a place where we could not defend ourselves against Obama and where we were left without standing to politically challenge Obama's spending.
This aspect has now become more than important, it literally spells life or death for the nation. If you believe that Romney will be more spendthrift than Bush we have a reasonable argument about which reasonable men might differ but please do not try to convince me that Romney will be more spendthrift than Obama.
The problem with Obama in the White House is that the critical problem in spending is entitlements and as long as Obama is in a position to frustrate congresses' attempts to reform entitlements, the nation proceeds in warp speed toward fiscal disintegration. Surely, he would not attempt to convince us that Romney would do the same?
Moreover, the life of the nation is at stake in international affairs in which Iran is about to get the bomb and that means the war of militant Islam to take over United States will have made a whole new turn. We will then face the serious possibility of bombs being smuggled across our southern border and exploded in our cities accompanied by demands for submission to sharia.
Surely you do not contend that Romney will sit passively in the face of an Iran arming itself the bomb?
Each of these two examples, and there could be more, demonstrate as clearly as we are given to foresee why the nation is imperiled under a presidency of Barack Obama and would not be under peril with Mitt Romney.
Fidelity to the Republican Party, or even to conservatism, is not the same as patriotism. We are talking about the survival of the Republic and nothing less.
(Mitt Romney) + (1 personality) + (1.5 libidos) - $200000000 = Bill Clinton
If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures. -- Alexander Hamilton
It doesn't matter in this case. I was going to post it for you but it is a Getty Image and is not allowed here.

BULLSH**. You might consider getting some intense Therapy. Obama’s Executive Orders and non-elected czars will run rough shod over The Constitution. If he has been as bold as he is in his first term, just wait until he does not have to answer to the Electorate again. And The Supreme Court will be packed with Liberals for the rest of our lifetime. The damage he can do is endless.
If Romney is on the ticket, MILLIONS WILL NOT VOTE.

Damn, it’s hard to believe that there are that many ignorant friggin’ people in the U.S. When we need to take back the Senate and hold The House, they won’t even bother to go vote and by-pass the Prez Election and vote in the down-ballot races is amazing. Well, I guess there are more dumb asses out there than I thought.
First off, I presently live in Connecticut about 10 miles from the Massachusetts line. I own property in Waltham Massachusetts and I have lived in Massachusetts in my life for a total of 9 years so I’m fairly familiar with a good bit of the 392 year history of the place. I didn’t need to do any research to be aware of Weld and Cellucci.
I suppose you can assert that a republican winning state-wide office in Massachusetts is common and not at all rare but the facts say otherwise.
I’m a shill for no one as there isn’t a decent person running this time including Gingrich, Paul and Santorum.
