We're All in Trouble
The American Spectator ^ | April 10, 2012 | Quin Hillyer

Posted on 04/11/2012 4:12:31 AM PDT by BO Stinkss

Now we will put to the test what was always an odd claim, namely that Mitt Romney is well positioned and well equipped to defeat Barack Obama this fall. This is a man who lost by 17 points to an incredibly weakened Ted Kennedy (people forget how vulnerable Kennedy was that year) in one of the most pro-Republican years in history, 1994 (the same year in which Rick Santorum won yet another upset victory); a man who would have been handily defeated if he had run for re-election as governor of Massachusetts in 2006; and a man who could barely squeak past his GOP opponents this year despite running almost non-stop for nearly six full years and despite outspending all of them combined by at least a 2-1 margin, while outspending each of them individually by at least 4-1 and running ads that were 90% negative against them.

Plus, he's a perfect caricature for Obama's anti-corporate-elite message to take root. Plus, he's plastic.

The GOP establishment -- the money men, the consultants who so repeatedly spread the message that only Romney could beat Obama while they angled for a piece of the lucrative campaign pie, the hangers-on and officious kingmakers, and the cultural elitists who secretly share much of the big media's cultural attitudes and disdain for middle America -- now must prove they can actually deliver a victory. If they can't, the GOP should have a figurative bloodletting that banishes them forever from party power.

Nonetheless, every conservative, and everybody who loves this country and cares about its traditions, its Constitution, and its freedom, should do nothing other than help that establishment succeed....

Romney was chosen to lose.

Chosen by Rove. Chosen by the DNC.
Chosen by Soros.

Chosen because HE is ineligible.
Chosen because HE invented gay marriage.
Chosen because HE invented ObamaCARE/ROmneyCARE>
Chosen because HE supports TARP and sharia.

And the RMNE LOVES him for it.

People were upset with me months ago when I stated how the people of Pennsylvania disliked Santorum and how he would not win his home state. Little did I know that confronting a loss there would lead to his demise.

Well, you gotta hand one thing to Romney: he doesn’t need a teleprompter to lie to us.

With 'Mitt the Flip' the Republican Party just effed up real bad. The GOP establishment has been feeding us crap sandwiches for years and this is no exception. Sadly too many so-called 'Republicans' want the free lunch too.

Romney will say whatever he thinks the audience wants to hear. He'll tell Planned Parenthood that he is their guy and then tell us he's a conservative. That is what Mittens does.

I have a suspicion that some of the negative ads ran in the primaries were paid for by Obama’s stooges. They clearly got the weakest link to run against him. Just like 4 years ago. I hope the 4 years of depression keeps America from making the worst choice again.

An Obama second term would feature expanded use of executive orders, expanded abuses via administrative fiat, further retrenchment from military strength -- and a real effort to stack the judiciary with ideologues who will refuse to rein in these abuses. In fact, the likelihood is reasonably high that he will be able to replace a moderate or conservative on the Supreme Court with a statist ideologue -- and thus secure an Alinskyite vision of a power grab on behalf of radical aims.

THAT'S IT FOLKS....IN A NUTSHELL. FOUR MORE YEARS OF OBAMA AND THIS GREAT REPUBLIC AS WE ONCE KNEW IT IS OVER FOREVER!!! The only way to stop the Obama, Marxist Agenda in his second term (since most folks on here are convinced Obama is going to be reelected) is to keep the House and take the Senate. Since Romney can't beat Obama we must concentrate on the House and Senate.

“Chosen to make the Obama vote fraud appear much less obvious (and a lot less work).”

The power lies not in those with the ability to cast votes, but in those responsible for counting the votes!

I can’t think of a single issue important to conservatives that we wouldn’t have to concede for Romney.

He’s not a RINO, he’s an outright democrat running as a republican. We may as well have Joe Lieberman as our nominee.

You are wrong.

Romney will help Obama. Romney ALWAYS HELPS OBAMA.

Romney for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

It seems to me Diogenes that you're concerned about losing the soul of the Republican Party and the author, as am I, is concerned about losing the soul of America.

Dear FRiend,
If YOU learn about the past backstabbing of
Romney (urls above) then YOU will understand
what happened.

It is not rationale to reward the traitor.

Did George Washington resign and make Benedict Arnold
President in his own place? No.

“People were upset with me months ago when I stated how the people of Pennsylvania disliked Santorum and how he would not win his home state. Little did I know that confronting a loss there would lead to his demise.”

What does this thread have to do with Santorum? This was a weak field of candidates from the beginning. I was hoping for Palin, then backed Cain, then by the time Cain dropped out Santorum was the only viable anti-Romney. However, Santorum certainly has his flaws, and made several missteps over the last few weeks that doomed his already weak candidacy. It didn’t help that (as the article points out) he was outspent at least 4-1 in every state where he competed with Plastic Mitt. Still he won several states.

Romney is a poor candidate, the antithesis of the Tea Party spirit that prevailed in the 2010 election, and pretty much the worst possible choice to try and beat 0bama in 2012. This article is spot on.

Worth repeating.

Further, if the GOP can't swing back to being a true small government, pro freedom party, it will be past time for an actual Tea Party that fields its own candidates against both Republicans and Dems.
