Meet the world's biggest Easter bunny, Darius the enormous Continental Giant, who weighs a whopping three-and-a-half stone and is 4ft 4in.

Darius, aged three, munches through an incredible 12 carrots a day to keep up his strength and fuel his amazing growth spurt.

He already held the title of world's biggest rabbit but has now smashed his own record after vets measured him a month ago and realised he had had grown another inch.

It is a double celebration for Darius who shares his birthday, on Easter Sunday, with his beloved owner Annette Edwards.

Ms Edwards, from Worcester, has bred big bunnies before but Darius is the largest in the history of rabbit-kind.

3 years old. At 6 weeks, a New Zealand can be slaughtered (or at least mine could), and have a good saddle to put in the fry pan.

Great for a pet I suppose, but I just can't get past seeing rabbits as food.

He really astounded vets when he grew another foot.

Almost looks like it could be photoshopped.

Just looking at that picture.... I'd have to get a dog for the ears and the feet. Scratch that... the ears are big enough, and the feet that they could be peeled and used for a consume or aspic.

But I would love to see that liver. And the kidneys. In a cream sauce with shallots and white wine.

And I could use a winter jacket. It's almost large enough.

I know it's her cuddly little pet..... but food. Glorious food.

My family left England in the 1600s. How much in pounds is 3.5 stone?

Nyet. That's how their guts hang. I know. She's suffocating it.

Besides, the hair sizes are all the same. If it was photoshopped, it would be obvious by the fat hairs and skinny hairs. Pun not intended.

That IS big. A buddy of mine had a rabbit (”Thumper” of course) that must have been 4 or 5. It was huge as well - perhaps 3/4 of that??

One night some neighborhood dogs knocked over it’s hutch and killed it. However, one smaller dog was also dead with claw gouges on its chest. Who knows, but as 12 year-olds we liked to think that Thumper took it out.

A rabbit is measured in stones.
A diamond is measured in carats.

1 stone = 14 pounds, so 3.5 stone = 49 pounds.

Thumper may well have. A buck that still has his equipment is perfectly capable of fending off any predator his own size or smaller. By breeding bucks were harsh with the does. Until they finished and had seizures. We controlled breeding carefully. And kept the bucks far away from each other.
