You asked what we think.

I think God hates homosexuality. I think he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for it. I think God tells us that homosexuality is God's penalty to societies such as those of the Greeks for refusing to acknowledge his command on their lives and turning to idols instead. The first chapters of the book of Romans, as well as many other passages of the Bible, give me no choice on what to believe on that if I want to call myself a Bible-believing Christian.

I have no “fear” of homosexuals, and unlike many conservatives, I don't even have any particular revulsion for them. That's because I've known lots of homosexuals and lesbians, all the way back to high school, due to attending some pretty liberal schools. I've also known politically conservative Republicans who were homosexual, going back to the mid-1980s when whether to tolerate homosexuality was still a debate in conservative Republican circles. Prior to becoming an evangelical, I couldn't have cared less what two men or two women did in their own bedrooms. God requires me to have a very different stand on homosexuality than the one I would prefer to have.

That's where my energy comes from on this issue — not fear, but following the crystal clear warnings of Scripture on this issue.

God's Word required me to change my views about lots of things, and tolerance for homosexuality was one of them. Homosexuality is evil because God says it's evil, and that's the end of the issue.

Since you asked what do [I] think, I'll provide a few reasons and at the same time, agree with most of what's been posted so far.

That's just the beginning.

What do you, EveningStar, think about the above, and why?

I used to remember when “gay” was something they called you to provoke you into acting more like a man. For the most part, it worked. Pretty much the same reason why people would say a man or boy would be called “like a girl”

Umm - you may be right and MY Greek faulty; after my last post, I remembered the word "homogeneous" as in "rolled homogeneous armor (RHA)". My bad. Looks like the meaning is "unreasoning fear of sameness".I congratulate you on your successful career in our nation's Army! I agree with you that we are lucky to have completed our service while homosexuality was still illegal. As the wag put it, "good thing we left before it became mandatory..".

I have had old friends of mine tell me that the young service personnel's attitude about active gays in their outfits has changed and that it may be no big deal. I know they are wrong: they are buying the media's carefully crafted image of gays being nice and inoffensive people that just happen to prefer each other. What they leave out is that the military services depend on fairness in command, hence the very important restrictions of fraternization. Once the command knows that the 'old man' is dinking one of his own (and they always know) the unit's perception of fairness and trust go right out the window. How can you trust that your promotions, your assignments, your awards, your selection for schools will be fair if some of the command is sleeping with the commander? Male gays and to some degree, lesbians, have many, many "partners" across units, services and elsewhere. Their loyalty goes primarily to their sexual connections. I know of what I speak, having conducted several investigations into homosexual rings within the service.

Now that our president (lack of capitalization intentional) has opened the floodgates and our military chiefs have folded like a wet napkin, we face the situation where this kind of rampant preference will go undeterred. The old joke saying "who do you have bl_w to get promoted around here?" will be sadly true. The effect on unit cohesion will be devastating.

I hope that with a change of government and maybe some spine among our careerist leaders we can revisit this mess.

Ah well - Semper Fi, Buddy

"Where one likes to stick one’s whacker for fun is one of the least interesting or important things about a person"

Holy cats, Buddy - you have been hanging around the wrong side of L.A. for too long! If some person wants to "stick their whacker" into each other, the neighbor's cat, little kids or dead things, I think we can pretty much agree that this is a person who should be cured or at least strongly medicated. The correct programming is as our Maker designed things, isn't it? Otherwise, we are talking about a whole lot of truncated limbs on the old family tree.

Anything else is a broken brain, honestly.

You bring back memories of rolled homogeneous armor that I used to roll around in after Vietnam in the 1970’s. M-48s & M60s. Career note: there was no Aviation branch then so real helicopter pilots chose a ground branch usually combat arms that was aviation friendly. For me it was Armor.

Sounds like you did many 15-6 investigations. The gay problem is even worse than I thought if it can infect confidence in the chain of command and what does that do to unit cohesion & morale. And what about the integrity of efficiency reports?

I do remember Ronald Reagan saying that those whose duties place them in close proximity have the right to not have to worry about homosexual assault; he kept original policy in place. Then the Draft Dodger changed all that.

Somehow I think this new problem may get dealt with using the old fashioned methods. No need for details.

Homophobia is imaginary.

I’ve never met anyone that feared the queers, but many that laughed at their antics. Of course, homosexuality is a mental illness, and what they need is treatment, not laughter.

I’ve never seen that here, or anywhere else.

When I was in high school, I had friends that would habituate the gay hangouts just to get the queers to hit on them so they could put them down.

Cruel? Yes, absolutely.

Yep, that sums it up pretty well.

OK, you got a point.....but my point is that there are a whole lot of other things about a person that are more important than their sexuality. Until Jesus comes back and splains things again, maybe using littler words this time so He won’t be so easily misunderstood, I’m afraid we are stuck with the homos among us. I for one don’t care what they do to each other in private (my gosh, can you IMAGINE having sex with Barney Frank?) but am willing to be “tolerant”.....to a point. God calls it an abomination, I’m not arguing with Him - but I am a sinner, too, and my sins would have consigned me to hell if not for saving grace. So I will try to get along and will pray for homos to find the light, but how can they when it’s another one of those conversations where one side is forbidden speach? All that the “homo agenda” is doing is sending more souls to hell and expanding Satan’s kingdom, which is a pretty good hint as to whose idea the whole thing is. I pity them - they are caught in a trap that most will never escape, and feel “pride” as they die from disease in their 30’s, while the way out of the trap is as close as the nearest Christian who would be slapped in prison (or fired or shunned in other ways) for telling them how to escape. Tricksy bastard, that Satan.

It’s for those on FR who suffer from “language PTSD” and being around liberals cussing to them at work. I control the detonation in a safe environment, so to speak.

Is this like the child who becomes “homophobic” after he was molested by a Mr. Sandusky or the woman who is raped and crusades against the practice? Clearly, with the exceptions cited, fear is not the issue with normal people; the word is disgust with deviant behavior whether it pertains to same-sex relations with children, animals, or the dead. This sickness grows more bold in demanding that others, not just accept, but exalt said behavior as normal. If there is any concern with public health, then let it be understood that male homosexuals are the #1 vector for the spread of infectious diseases among humans and are an unnecessary public health threat costing the system billions.

I have homonausea. The same nausea you feel about bestiality, or people who like eating/smearing themselves with their own or other’s wastes, or people who get off on sex with others who are unwilling, or people who have any myriad of other perversions that grind their gears.
