Scientists want to secure permission to fertilise the eggs, which have been produced from stem cells, to see whether reproduction this way is possible.
Scientists are seeking permission to fertilise lab-grown human eggsResearchers are working towards generating an infinite supply of human eggs which could allow older and infertile women to become mothers, the Independent newspaper reports.
Furthermore, some scientists have gone as far as to say the tests could uncover an ‘elixir of youth’ which would eliminate the menopause and allow older women to remain young and healthy, with the stem cell eggs replenishing their ovaries.
The teams from Edinburgh University and Harvard Medical School in the US are aiming to fertilise the eggs with human sperm, which would allow them to study them for the legal limit of 14 days, and they will not yet be transplanted into a human womb.
Edinburgh biologist Dr Evelyn Telfer told the newspaper: 'Could the fertilisation take place this year? Yes, absolutely.'
'If you can show you can get ovarian stem cells from the human ovary you then have the potential to do more for fertility preservation.'

If you want bad sci-fi plots:
* One of the limits on cloning experiments has been the shortage of human eggs to use. One thousand eggs yielded a Dolly. That many human eggs equals around 100 IVF babies - so the donor eggs go to lots of paying parents instead of lots of failed clones. If you can mass produce human eggs, now you have the raw supply necessary to attempt to clone en masse.
* Now egg donation is no longer limited to a series of surgeries. One prime donor is paid for an ovary slice, and tens of thousands of donor eggs are produced from it for sale. We’ve already seen “sibling super-sets” from popular sperm donors of 50-150. Now you can get the same thing from the maternal side.
* You could see harvesting of ovary tissue upon death and post-death egg creation to create the same issues we’ve had with harvested sperm from dead guys used to create kids.
And all this has been accomplished without any mutations, hybrids, and killings.
This is evil science in my opinion.
Have you read the 3 book series? They made different classes of “humans”.
Of course, they had to kill the real human first, before they could create the “fake” one to take over.

ok...so the material in building these things are from human sources....will still have DNA.
My mind is wandering to theological areas like...will these embryos actually be “human”?

Creation of gametes this way doesn’t mean it will work. The cellular machinery for turning on matrimonial genetic expression and patrimonial expression hasn’t really been determined. So while these options may work to create sperm from male marrow and eggs from a woman’s tissue, it may not yet allow a living child to be created from two same-gendered partners.
So goes the tenure of men. After setting the stage for this by defaming men over the years in TV ads and general conversation we have arrived at the point of farming men for their sperm and the the feminists can run the world as they see fit.
I don't see how. He is the giver of life. For me, this is a world that has gone from mad world to just downright crazyland.
