Wis. gov signs bill erasing discrimination damages
Associated Press 1 hr 14 mins ago
MADISON, Wis. (AP) Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill that prohibits workers from collecting damages in employment discrimination cases.
Under current state law, employees who prevail in discrimination lawsuits can collect between $50,000 and $300,000 in compensatory and punitive damages. The Republican bill blocks anyone from collecting such damages in employment discrimination suits.

Wisconsin changes to discrimination lawsuits ping
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
The penalty for shoplifting would not just be to pay the store. There would be the fine, the court payments (in some states,) lawyer fees in many cases, the fun of being thrown handcuffed into a police cruiser for a ride downtown, and the shame.
Now, I know you'll tell me that those don't seem to deter some thieves. And you're right. But do you really think they cough up imaginary damages, too? I'm really surprised at the level of support on this thread from supposed conservatives over the made-up concept of "damages."
The damage is the theft and the costs associated with prosecuting it. Why else, other than enriching lawyers, should additional arbitrary costs be tacked on?
I am of the opinion that an employer should be able to hire whomever he wants for whatever reason. Also, he should be able to fire whomever he wants for whatever reason. A smart employer will make intelligent decisions for the best of his company. If he makes dumb decisions, he will go out of business.
So this is through the liberal mouthpiece.. What’s the real truth of what he signed?
Dunno. This is one version. Others mention that women will never be the same. (Is that possible?)
This discrimination crap is from the left, where all it takes is one nutjob crying discrimination, get it to the liberal jury, and the payout comes. If they don’t like the job, or the work environment, get lost and let the market take care of it. I do not support sex harassment, etc., but too many crap excuses to complain discriminaiton. And BTW, it is legal to discriminate in private business, with some restictions, of course (e.g., number of employees, business type, etc.).
