Just finished my annual online "Human Relations" training and had to come to FR to vent. Guess what the first example listed of "workplace violence" was? Right: Maj Hasan at Ft Hood. These people have the unmitigated call to lump this traitorous murdering coward in with incidents that involve love triangles and disgruntled employees. I wish I thought anybody with any clout would care about my outrage, but they'd probably want to start keeping an eye on ME...
First, jag, thank you for your service. This thread really depresses me. My oldest grandson is in Week 6 of AFBMT at Lackland. We just saw pix of his Flight on Facebook, and there he is, coming out of the gas chamber! We are so proud of him wanting to serve our country (his MOS is Aircraft Loadmaster), but so dearly wish he were serving under a different Commander-in-Chief.
Well, you want the ragheads to know what it says - and be offended -- don't you?
Ma’am, it is a privilege that you would loan us your grandson. I pray for his safety and that he will be led and mentored by people with a sense of mission.
Colonel, USAFR
“This fluff is the crap I have to endure to do what passion and patriotism desire. No one I know takes that stuff seriously no matter how much PC crap the brass demands of the force.”
Well said, and thanks for the reminder.
I’m glad I retired in Oct 08. My son got back from Afghanistan in December with the Army Guard, and he plans on getting out ASAP. He’s an E-3, but he is convinced that none of the higher-ups in Afghanistan have any clue about what is happening outside the FOBs...
They Thrust that crap back on us in January!
I almost literately gagged myself with the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" Repeal lesson and the "Tolerance" Lesson.
I just kept hitting next as fast as the damn thing would load.
Silly me - I assumed that when I got reassigned, they’d update my training manager automatically, but nooooooo....so, I went red on all annual training requirements at the end of December and found out last Friday. Joy. Got to come in early every day this week to my civilian office and do ADLS.
On DADT, I was sitting with my boss (a female BG) during the Level I (JAG) training and we both about puked when the online trainer admonished everybody that “homosexual is an offensive term and will not be used. Gay or lesbian is more appropriate.”
BTW - a blessed Passover and Holy Week to you and your family.
Thanks for your service
Sorry for what we have let our Military become.
It saddens my Dad as well.
“Alright people, gather around. We've got a fire in the paint locker and we've got to have a group discussion to figure out what we are going to do about it. My suggestion is to nominate a crisis response committee. Now we need to ensure that there is enough diversity on this committee to handle the situation, so make your nominations with that in mind.”
That's nothing, wait until you see how they F'ed everything up for us down in Kansas with the Defense Travel System, talk about wasted man hours, I wanted to choke myself with the CAC reader.
I guess that is a downside to being a Colonel, you have to actually listen to all that garbage, now if it something mildly important like say Fire extinguisher safety or risk of Isolation, I will do the Lesson. But the "Homosexual is no longer an acceptable phrase" just makes me hit next faster.
Thank You, and I pray you have a bless Passover and Holy Week too!
P.S. 100% right on with your tag line! We are at war with the Liberals both on the left and right!! Mind if in discussions I use it sometimes?
Case in point; I was delivered a poster that spoke on being sensitive to homosexuals in the military. This was right after "Don't ask, don't tell" was repealed. I fed it to the shredder, but I am waiting them to find out that their poster doesn't exist in my workplace and then incur their wrath.
Be my guest - I borrowed it from a fellow FReeper’s post about a month ago!
On DTS, I’m just as glad IMAs don’t get to use it - it’s nice to call up Alamo Travel and say, “Book it, Dan-o!”
whatever it is, it sure as hell sounds simpler than the new DTS format.
G-D bless you Colonel, keep fighting the good fight!
IMAs are Category B reservists, also called Individual Mobilization Augmentees. The unit reserves (Cat A - I used to be one of those) have to use DTS but we’re not authorized to do so.
The instructor asked if anyone felt they should not be there. I of course loudly replied “ME”
He asked me why. I stated: I am in charged of the training and supervision of 12 to 24 male students in combat skills in an all male career field. If I am sexually harassing my students, I don't belong here, I belong on East Houston St. with the rest of the Fags.
He was not amused. The class concurred unanimously. I was not allowed to leave.
That was the beginning of the end in my mind
Lucky You, Sir!
Yeah, darn the luck...
;-)
