Kiss frontman Gene Simmons appeared on Fox News Channels Fox & Friends to discuss the 2012 race and President Obama, as well as promote his new chain of restaurants Rock & Brews. On the program, Simmons offered his support for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in his bid to replace President Obama in the White House.
The reason sometimes Republicans get in including the Senate, House and presidency is because Americans, smartly, and I applaud them for doing so, vote on the issues and not the party, said Simmons. Im an American. I want both parties to appeal to me, and then Ill make my educated decision. Sometimes youre right, sometimes Im wrong.

I dont like Romney. At all. That being said, if Romney is the Republican nominee against Obama I will vote for Romney.
Careful - you can get banned on here for saying stuff like that.

Any place dumb enough to ban someone for voting against Obama is a place to dumb to be a part of.
To: Skooz
Anyone who stays home rather than vote for the Republican candidate will be complicit in the re-election of Obama.
This is true, but it's going to be awful hard to vote when I have to use my elbows while holding my nose with both hands.

Exactly correct. A choice between the Devil and his right-hand man isn’t much of a choice.
Secondly, if our current GOP-e group is anything like the ‘we need MORE Republicans in Congress’ we’re doomed anyway. Where’s the leadership these days??
No matter how you slice it, the Republic is going down with help from BOTH sides, but most here will argue it’s better to hold your nose for ‘our’ guy(s), so they’ll feel better when the bottom finally does drop out from underneath everyone.
I say, enjoy your sh!t sandwich, I’m not bellying-up to the bar.

It's certainly your prerogative to sit it out however, if Mitt is the candidate, why not take a chance? With Obama, there's NO chance.

Simmons said he voted for obamma because he thought he would be different from what he turned out to be.Interesting...how could anyone who looked at 0's past think he would turn out different? You're right - Simmons drank the "cool, a black president!" Kool-Aid.
The really scary part is, there are still those out there that do not see (after this train wreck) that 0 was the wrong choice. There are still those who contend that the troubles we face today as a country are still the fault of George W. Bush and 0 still needs more time to fix it.
To: ought-six
Well said - Obama has got to go. Like Bush's second term, it will be up to Talk Radio and grassroots activism to keep Romney honest. Fiscally he will likely make us proud as an experienced businessman who appreciates efficiency.
But eating one's words is not uncommon when making political predictions.

Gene, you were a gullible idiot in 08 and you’re a gullible idiot now. Regrets won’t undo the damage you and your fellow dupes have done. Your only option is an honorable death by ritual disembowelment.

“You seem to be sending out contradictory messages here,”
Not at all. If you want a conservative candidate for 2016 then you need to start working on it now. Running home and hiding under the bed won’t change anything.
For 2012 you can only pick from the 2 crappy choices available. Unless you can think of a way to keep mittens from getting the GOP nomination.
IMO another 4 years of BO will be the end of America.

Ok, let's proceed based on your presumption that voting for Romney might (that's BIG 'might') stop 0bama.
January 20, 2013 - Mitt Witt takes the Oath of Office, the Romney Presidency begins.
Now we have no idea what sort of global, regional, domestic, and economic situations that a President Romney will face. If he is reasonably successful in reversing the course that 0bama set our Nation upon, what will your argument be for dislodging Romney as the 2016 GOP nominee? "Ohhhh you weren't conservative enough?". As the incumbent President, it is going to take more than conservative angst and disgust to prevent the GOP from renominating Romney at the convention in 2016. Surely you know that?
Add in the inevitable resistance to your 'primary'ing' idea, after enduring 4 years of extreme left radical 'Rats in control of the Executive branch, the Senate, and partially the House, what sort of candidate is going to be convinced to take on a sitting President that is going to appear to be making progress in undoing what 0bama and his fellow 'Rats have done? (that's assuming Romney actually does that)
In 1976, it was a remarkable conservative, i.e., Governor Ronald Reagan who chose to take on Gerald Ford who defined 'RINO' perfectly, and yet even the Gipper fell short of superceding Ford as the nominee that year. It will take another candidate of true Reagan-like credentials in 2016 and if Romney is even marginally competent in the White House, it isn't likely that he would be denied the nomination for a second term.
And this isn't about "running home and hiding under the bed", it is about facing the reality of our political situation.
Don't delude yourself: if Romney is the nominee, you will have the choice of 'Socialism-Marxism' vs 'Socialism-Lite' in the voting booth. Both candidates are big government statists, both candidates are anti-Second Amendment, 0bama is pro-abortion, Romney is so wishy-washy on the subject, he might as well be, having sucked up to NARAL in 2002 for their support.
So the real question for you and every sane American is:
Do you want 4 more years of a radical Socialist, or do you want *EIGHT* years of a 'compassionate statist Socialist'?
The only possible saving grace to choosing Romney (oh my gawd I can't believe I'm saying this) is that he APPEARS not to be prone to acting as a subservient toady to Moscow and giving the farm away to the Russians as is 0bama via Medvedev to Putin.
Even that is one helluva small fig leaf.

So you’d see keeping Obama in as a valid alternative? not sure what to say to that line of thinking.
Yeah I do, enjoy your life in utopia.

It's the same choice as selecting salmonella over botulism. Either way, conservatives are going to be sick as Hell for either 4 years, or 8 years.
And don't put words in my mouth Sparky, 0bama was never a 'valid alternative' but there was never sufficient momentum within the federal judiciary to overcome the resistance to what is arguably, a totally invalid regime. Even alleged 'conservatives' right here on FR established a cottage industry of trashing FReepers who cited 0bama's ineligibility to serve as POTUS, but that's another story.
Now that 'utopia' comment of yours is what appears to be classic projection, if you really think conservatives are going to be able to deny a hypothetical 'President Romney' renomination in 2016.
It is clear to me that you have not thought this through.

I’m sure they will gladly take BO......Since they have such high “Principles” and could care less about their country.
They would rather fall on their swords than admit they are wrong.
