Amen to that. Had a few clouds forming a circular pattern over a building here in Las Colinas. Seems to be clearing up as of 4:28... expecting a very long drive home tonight.

Why do government schools use prison terminology?Because they see the students as inmates?

It is amazing how the cars are untouched and still in their driveway’s while the homes are leveled.

Im an old Texas gal, quite well acquainted with weather terminology, both proper and colloquial. So a funnel on the ground is a tornado. Maybe you can lecture me on whether twister is a proper term?? Circular storms have a number of colloquial names. In some parts of the US Tornado Alley, tornadoes or twisters are called cyclones. In the Indian Ocean, hurricanes are called cyclones and in the Bay of Bengal, they are also called tornadoes. To a meteorologist, cyclones are areas of low atmospheric pressure.

It is amazing how the cars are untouched and still in their driveways while the homes are leveled. I am only guessing here... but cars are designed to withstand 100 MPH wind while older homes that don't have tie-down straps connecting the rafters to the top plates are susceptible to uplift.

Very scary day. So far, my daughter-in-law and dog and safe in the laundry room at home. My son and grandson are safe at my son’s Arlington office, and one tornado passed too close to them. My two younger grandchildren are still locked down at school. Praying they all make it home safely and there are no more tornadoes today! Hope all of you DFW Freepers are safe.

Hubby went to pick up our daughter at school in Frisco and he ended up on lock down too! Mean while I’m at work in Addison, my floor is IT, and we discovered that all the other floors were hunkered in the stairwells while we all kept working and conversing about how dark it is outside! Was listening to WBAP and they said something about a tornado touched down around Keller springs and the tollway, anyone else hear that? Hopefully the drive home won’t be too crazy!
