School cafeterias to require fruits and vegetables nationwide (Fines for Kids not complying)

Beginning next school year, students across the country may be in for a shock when they purchase their lunch in the cafeteria.

In an effort to fight childhood obesity and diabetes, the federal government is requiring students of all ages to buy at least one serving of fresh fruit or vegetable for lunch. Even if they toss the produce into the garbage.

Fresh fruit and vegetable portions will double next year. “Some students don’t take one now, but they will have to,” Eileen Faustich, Milford’s food services director, said Friday. “We can’t let a child go by the cashier without a fruit or vegetable on their tray.”

There’s more, a lot more, in the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act.

Next year, students can buy only nonfat flavored milk or 1 percent white milk. Half of the grains must be “whole” next year. In 2013-14, all products must be whole grain. School cafeterias must offer green and orange leafy vegetables, and drastically reduce sodium use over the next three years. Trans-fats are banned.

If a student refuses to take the fruit or vegetable, the cafeteria employees will have to charge an a la carte fee, which typically is higher because the lunch will not be reimbursable under federal guidelines.

One of the SC justices main arguments against obamacare is that it would give the govt. the power to make people buy broccoli. Looks like the govt. already has that power. So that argument goes out the window.

What is sick is when you see supposedly republicans smiling while they pass this imposition saying “now we will finally see our kids eat healthy” as if we should somehow be thankful for the dictates they are shoving down our throats.

All you can do is take names, primary them, and if their bad enough let the traitor fall before the democrats in the general.

Notice it passed in the House during a LAME DUCK session. Pretty awful for them to do anything then, especially considering the massive change in the House after the 2010 election.

I was in the supermaket the other day and a young lady asked my help with finding some tortillas. She had a list in her hand and pointed out that she had to buy ‘whole wheat’ tortillas.

At first I thought it was just a handwritten shopping list and maybe she was picking up some things for a neighbor, but then I got a better look at the list. I was a printed list, from the gubment, that told her she couldn't buy corn tortillas or (white) flour tortillas, she had to buy whole-wheat. Milk had to be a specific kind. Bread had to be whole-wheat. This juice but not that juice. And on and on and on.

I suddenly felt sorry for her, that even a small choice - what type tortilla she bought, or even what kind of cottage cheese, had already been made for her by some bureaucrat

We managed to find a bag of whole-wheat tortillas after a minute or so of rummaging thru all the corn and white tortillas. I wished her well.

This was one of the last acts of a session where the Democrats had overwhelming majorities in the House and in the Senate, and the Kenyan Clown occupied the Oval Office.

It was also one of the worst acts by one of the worst sessions in history — it came during the lame duck session after the massive shellacking the Democrats took in the November 2010 election.

It's hard to believe, though, that not one Republican Senator bothered to vote against this disgusting legislation.

Many stories seem to link “Modern” wheat as a cause of today’s obesity and other medical problems. It is also hard to avoid the wheat which is added into many products.

I have to admit that my wife was right. She insisted on sending our kids to Catholic school. I went to pubik skools and they learned me goodly.

I grew up on the mean streets of outer whitelandia and the schools were ok.

But I love the fact that there is a vending machine in the lunchroom. Genetics. My son is trying to gain weight but he is hopelessly skinny.

I used to drink weight gainer shakes.
