By the time Mitt Romney arrives in Wisconsin Friday his first campaign stop in the state before its GOP primary on Tuesday his challenger Rick Santorum will have already become a familiar face. Mr. Santorum has been in Wisconsin since last weekend and has dined, bowled, and played shuffleboard with residents in every pocket of the state. Hes even tossed a football at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers.
Santorums once-generous lead in Wisconsin is eroding. In February, the former US senator polled at 34 percent among the states likely Republican voters, while Mr. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, trailed far back at 18 percent, according to a Marquette University Law School poll.
Current Wisconsin polling shows Romney leading, 39 percent to Santorums 31 percent.
What happened? The easy answer is money. The Romney campaign is armed with seemingly unlimited campaign resources to flood local airwaves and phone banks, resulting in the candidate not necessarily having to step foot in the state until just before its voters head to the booths.
By early this week in Wisconsin, combined spending by the Romney campaign and Restore Our Future, a pro-Romney super political-action committee, totaled about $2 million in television advertising, much of it negative. By contrast, Santorums campaign had spent under $100,000 by last Sunday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and the Red White and Blue Fund, a super PAC backing Santorum, had spent about $300,000.

Same was true with Fred Thompson last time around. Just coming off from a bout with cancer left him looking sickly and listless.
Saw him during an interview a few weeks ago and he has made a nice rebound. I wanted to say, "Run, Fred, run".
He is unable to relate to the voters.
Newt talks about issues that affect Americans. Rick appeals to the `just say no to pink bowling balls` crowd. He`d get destroyed in a general (thankfully he`ll never get that far)
Our weakest candidate in a general election
Fred was My Man last go around.
He is disciplined and reasoned.
So who will get that far? it isn’t going to be Newt and you know it. So who?
I knew Newt when I attended West Georgia College (Class of ‘74)
Looks like we are fated to disappointment.
What just chaps my *** is the Sanatorum backers that were ruthless pricks to Perry
And the Cain Backers that smeared him with naggerhead.
we get what we vote for.
Not sure. Hopefully we can deny Romney, and get someone better at the convention.
So who will get that far? it isn’t going to be Newt and you know it. So who?
It is not in the MSM's general interest to run that story now.
But if he got the nomination...?!...Katy bar the door.
yeah, right.
While I reluctantly support Newt at the moment, I will never forget how he gave Cain cover to knock Perry out.
In the real world Perry is the only one actually getting shit done and getting in Obamas face.
but he had a gardasil moment, and he single handedly took my wallet to give an illegal a college education /s
You knew him?
Maybe Saintorum is tanking because of brain dead moments like this:

“More to the point his record sucks.”
Not compared to the other candidate’s records it doesn’t.
I could never figure how Perry got creamed for the “heartless” comment, but Newt got a pass for offering flat out amnesty.
I don’t think anybody blindly went for Santorum. They just liked him better as the anti-Romney than they did Newt.
Face it, we can’t make people like Newt. I like him but he’s basically given up and Santorum’s fading so I guess we’ll have to like Romney.
Anyone calling Santorum “pro-choice” is delusional. There was hardly a stronger advocate for the unborn in Congress.
If that makes any sense. Newt can also communicate well and use that ability to his best advantage.
