LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - For the first time since that fateful night on February 26, the father of a neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed an unarmed teenager sat down for a television interview.
Robert Zimmerman, father of George Zimmerman, said he decided it was time to speak out for his son, against the advice of others. He shared with us what George said happened on the night that 17-year-old Trayvon Martin died.
"It's my understanding that Trayvon Martin got on top of him and just started beating him," the 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman said.
He said he felt his son has been portrayed in the wrong way. He also said he and his family have received death threats and asked that we not show his face on camera.
Because there has been a lot of break-ins in the area, Robert said George thought it suspicious that someone would not be walking on the street or the sidewalk on a rainy night -- that Martin would be walking between the town homes. He said after making those observations, his son decided to call the police.
"He called the non-emergency number first, and they asked him where he was, because he was at the rear of the town houses and there was no street sign," said Robert

Somebody working for Zimmerman had better procure *hard copies* of all doctors' notes *and* X-rays.You just never know what might happen to them down the road...if ya catch my drift. Those notes and X-rays could spell the difference between him being charged or not charged.
Good idea! I hope they have a really good attorney.
If He is murdered, This will be Democrat on Democrat crime, just like it started.
Democrat = THE PARTY OF LYNCHING
The Duke Lacrosee and Richard Jewell ( even though he died) never had to work again from the money Media and Duke gave them.
I’m waiting for the forensic reports. As of now, its speculation. Either side can be argued.
The cartridge was still in the chamber and several freepers have confirmed that it would automatically discharge unless some thing kept it from working.
Am concerned that LEO didn't take the necessary precaution and test on all of the evidence Zimmerman might need to prove the struggle and his innocence.
The video tape creates that doubt about the injuries. We need that explained better.
Do you mean the "casing"? A cartridge is automatically reloaded when an automatic works correctly.
“time to speak out for his son, against the advice of others. “
Probably good advice not to say anything. On the other hand it appears Zimmerman has already been tried and convicted, all that’s left is the hanging... well of course they will have to arrest him before they hang him (or do they, have to arrest him first, I’m not sure anymore).
Not exactly.
GEORGE ZIMMERMAN AND TRAYVON MARTIN: WHAT WE DONT KNOWIt has been reported that the gun was recovered with a full magazine and that only the chambered round had been fired. This is a condition we associate with something preventing the gun from cycling a fresh round from the magazine into the chamber after the shot was discharged. One thing that can cause that is another mans hand wrapped around the pistol, retarding its slide mechanism.
I believe the reporter told Hannity the police have a pic of Zimmerman’s bloody nose. She said Zimmerman did not know his nose was broken until the doctor looked at it in the hospital. The hospital should have the records and the police would have the pics.
It just hit me that something was very wrong concerning the firing of the gun...Plus the struggle over the gun....the gun being in the holster so soon after it was fired.
Just a gut feeling.
“Even though a dispatcher told George Zimmerman not to follow Martin, his father said his son continued his pursuit to locate an address to give to police.”
Wrong, wrong, wrong! The dispatcher told Zimmerman: “we don’t need you to do that”. A suggestion — not a command. It’s a crucial difference & this is seriously bad reporting.
The problem with your statement is that after firing no cartridge would be in the chamber if the slide was prevented from operating. Possibly the empty casing would be or it could have been ejected but the next cartridge in the magazine was not loaded.
The gun was reportedly found in the condition of having no live cartridge in the chamber and all remaining cartridges still in the magazine. That had to be due to incomplete cycling of the slide/bolt mechanism which can be the result of something interfering with its operation such as a hand on the slide or the barrel pushed up against an object ... such as a chest. More likely a hand on the slide. Pushing the barrel against an object can prevent a semi-auto pistol from firing at all.
Another problem with your terminology is that "discharge" means "fire" and a semi-auto does not and would not "automatically discharge" a round except for an extremely unlikely mechanical malfunction. That is not what has been reported to have happened. What seems to have been prevented, somehow, was the automatic re-loading of the chamber with a fresh round not a discharge.
As for the make or model of the gun virtually all semi-auto pistols operate in the same fashion regarding the issues described above.
He was treated by a medic at the scene. Any medic would clean the blood off his face. I suffer from nose bleeds and have learned to clean my face within seconds so there is no sign of blood on my face. And I am no medic.
That is just responsible gun handling and Zimmerman is said to have had four months law enforcement training with a sheriff's dept.
Any idea who said that? It was never in any released police reports that I know of.
