Have been thinking along those line the last couple of days. When the first officer arrived the gun was in the holster on Z’s waist. Because the officer took the gun he was in close enough contact to note the wet, grassy back of Zimmerman.

Am concerned that LEO didn't take the necessary precaution and test on all of the evidence Zimmerman might need to prove the struggle and his innocence.

Do you mean the "casing"? A cartridge is automatically reloaded when an automatic works correctly.

It has been reported that the gun was recovered with a full magazine and that only the chambered round had been fired. This is a condition we associate with something preventing the gun from cycling a fresh round from the magazine into the chamber after the shot was discharged.
