The death of Trayvon Martin has sent racial shock-waves through the country, and while the focus has largely been on anger from the black community, the fact remains that the alleged shooter, currently in hiding from vigilante threats, is a self-described Hispanic man.
But if George Zimmerman was hoping to find support in the Latino community, he should look elsewhere.
The Latino community joins the African-American community and other communities in condemning George Zimmerman as what he is a murderer and a racist, Roberto Lovato, co-founder of the online Latino advocacy organization Presente.org, told The Daily Caller.
The group is acting on Trayvons behalf. Presente.org has joined with Color of Change to petition for the arrest of Martins murderer.
Todos somos Trayvon! (We are all Trayvon!), Presente.org wrote, urging supporters to sign the petition. The group also has a petition to condemn Geraldo Rivera for blaming Martins hoodie for his death. According to Lovato, the petition currently has 18,000 signatures.
La Raza has rallied for Martin with the civil rights community as well.
The organizations urged so much in a March 22 post at the Huffington Post.
NCLR joins allies in the civil rights community in calling for a real investigation for this grievous failure of justice, president and CEO Janet Murguía wrote.

Many such forms already allow for "white Hispanic", "black Hispanic", etc, by treating "Hispanic" as an ethnicity, separate from race. So someone of Cuban or Dominican ancestry could be either a black Hispanic or a white Hispanic.
Of course Cubananos or Puerto Ricanos have little in common with Mexicanos, other than different dialects of Spanish.
It is to be hoped. Although one often cannot tell just when the shark was jumped until well after the fact.
Massive confusion, the whole thing-like just about every “Hispanic” I know here, my family is “Mestizo”-Apache/Spanish. I also have “real” red hair, which is not uncommon in my family. But that mixing took place when they came to Mexico/Texas, starting 250 years ago. I don’t know any “pure” Spainiards who are not pretty much just off the boat.
Of course. Just as Black "leaders" remain silent when Hispanic thugs systematically drive Blacks out of neighborhoods where they've lived for decades.
It's a standard rule of pro wrestling, roller derby, and politics: the heels never feud among themselves.
Ironic, since they themselves refer to persons descended from the Portuguese as "Lusitanic".
Portugal has been ethnically and linguistically distinct from Iberian or Celtiberian Spain since early Roman times. In fact, the ancient Lusitani may have been a non-Celtic, but Indo-European-speaking people, like the Illyrians and Messapians.
Even modern Portuguese is descended from Late Latin, like French and Catalan, rather than Old Latin (as Spanish is). Hence the strong divergences in pronunciation and spelling from Spanish usage.
Knowing that his mother is peruana, you can see the Peruvian Indian ancestry in George Zimmermann's face right away.
Ironic that the oh-so-rad musician, Tupac Shakur, took his first name from the last Inca and great Spaniard-killer, the 18th-century rebel Tupac Amaru'.
Are people from Rome Latinos?
Lovato, puta de los medios.
Halakhically, Barry Goldwater was not Jewish. His mother was non-Jewish, his father a Jew who had converted to Episcopalianism. Politics has nothing to do with it.
Welcome to the most “diverse” race on Planet Earth, Mr. Zimmerman.
Definitely. I've never been to Peru, but my wife has, and she took pictures. He definitely has that Andean Indian look, although he's fairer of skin.

White/Black => Good
Black/White => Evil
Brown Hispanic => Good
White Hispanic => Evil
Only in the minds of liberals can ideas like this spawn.
Thus, Zimmerman is a "Tio Tomas".
I have Hispanic inlaws and they are as conservative as it gets (they are also from a small Texas town). It’s also my understanding that those of Cuban descent tend to vote more conservatively as a whole. What would it take to translate this into Hispanics in general voting GOP? It’s already known that the GOP is (on paper anyway) the party of conservative values-pro-life, anti-gay marriage, etc. Why does this not translate to a majority of Hispanics voting GOP? As with blacks, something is trumping these values.
But we’ve got tens of millions of them here just off the boat (or ‘over the border’). Those who’ve been here 250 years are a fraction of the total.
He’d have to be an illegal alien for the ‘latino’ leadership to give a damn.
For example, the Virginia Department of Minority Business defines a minority individual as an individual who is a citizen of the United States or a non-citizen who is in full compliance with United States immigration law and who satisfies one or more of the following definitions:
1. African American means a person having origins in any of the original peoples of Africa and who is regarded as such by the community of which this person claims to be a part.
2. Asian American means a person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, or the Pacific Islands, including but not limited to Japan, China, Vietnam, Samoa, Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, Northern Mariana, the Philippines, a U.S. territory of the Pacific, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Sri Lanka and who is regarded as such by the community of which this person claims to be a part.
3. Hispanic American means a person having origins in any of the Spanish-speaking peoples of Mexico, South or Central America, or the Caribbean Islands or other Spanish or Portuguese cultures and who is regarded as such by the community of which this person claims to be a part.
So what’s the Hispanic equivalent of “Uncle Tom?”
LOL. Per La Raza, from Spain yes, but from Rome no. The left can use words and defintioins any way they want as long as it suits their purposes.
