After a day of spin from the White House didn’t tamp down outrage over Barack Obama’s sotto voce conversation with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, the President himself addressed the controversy. Earlier today, Obama insisted that nothing he told Medvedev was out of the ordinary, and that he wasn’t “hiding the ball” on missile defense:
A defensive President Obama said Tuesday he wasnt guilty of hiding the ball when an open microphone caught him pleading with the president of Russia to delay missile shield talks until after this years elections.
The only way I get this stuff done is If Im consulting with the Pentagon, with Congress, if Ive got bipartisan support and frankly, the current environment is not conducive to those kinds of thoughtful consultations, Mr. Obama told reporters at a nuclear security summit here. This is not a matter of hiding the ball. …
I dont think its any surprise that you cant start that a few months before presidential and congressional elections in the United States, and at a time when they just completed elections in Russia, and theyre in the process of a presidential transition where a new presidents going to be coming in, in a little less than two months, Mr. Obama said.
Er — riiight. Here is the transcript once again from the conversation:
President Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but its important for him to give me space.
President Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you
President Obama: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.
President Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.
“After my election, I have more flexibility.” He’s not talking about Congressional elections. He’s trying to get “space” from Putin, through Medvedev, in order to get himself re-elected. And to get that space — in which Putin would presumably back off of his public comments on missile defense — Obama promised Russia “flexibility” on missile defense once he gets past “my last election,” and the last time voters can hold him accountable for his actions.
The White House continued to spin this as a demonstration of Obama’s commitment to nuclear disarmament and missile defense:
White House aides said the president was still “deeply invested” in the missile defense system.
Uh huh. Here was Obama’s “deep investment” in this 2008 video from his campaign, in which he promised to “end misguided defense policies,” and one of the first topics mentioned is … missile defense:
I will cut investments in unproven missile-defense systems.
So when was Obama “hiding the ball”? Then or now?
Are you serious? Did you not hear the “off-mike” remarks 0 made to Medvedev the other day? Mittens may be a lot of things, but he’s probably not a hard-core-sell-us-out-at-every-opportunity and destroy-all-things-American kind of guy. He may not be good, but he’s a better alternative.
We don’t have good choices this time around. We have bad and really, really bad.
Some differences:
Romney PROMISES to repeal Obamacare at the Federal level.
Romney PROMISES to sign an Executive Order granting ALL states waivers for Obamacare.
Romney promises to cut corporate taxes to 25% and cut taxes across the board by 20% for all levels.
Romney promises to abolish the death tax.
Romney promises to approve the Keystone Pipeline.
Romney promises to work with Paul Ryan to implement his budget.

Oh so Willard Mitt Romney PROMISED...
Oh I guess thats different...
But the promises of the lying liberal Romney are not worth spit...

Wheres the promise that individual states can REFUSE RomneyObamaCare ???
Hmmm its NOT THERE...
Romney LOVES RomneyCare
hes not about to get rid of it...
Its bankrupting MASS as I type...
“Romney PROMISES to repeal Obamacare at the Federal level.”
AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL
BINGO theres the catch...
We Conservatives want RomneyObammaCare GONE for good..
Wheres the promise to do that ???
empty words from a unprincipled empty guy...
Taxes ???
Romney doesnt pay much taxes...
What does he care about regular working people and taxes ???
Hes never had a job...
Romney has never governed as a Conservative...
He promised to govern as a liberal in MASS...
But in that case he DID keep his promise...
Romney PROMISES to sign an Executive Order ...
Do you not understand that some of us dont trust that pen in the hands of Willard Mitt Romney ???
Redux Obama ...
Those who say there is not one whit of a difference between Romney and Obama will have to believe that Romney LIES 100% of the time. That for me is astonishing.

Yeah Im astonished too...
Im astonished that you would believe people could believe that...
Romney just like Obama sometimes does tell a truth...
accidently and begrudgingly of course..
but it does happen
If it will further the agenda Willard has..
He may not be good, but hes a better alternative.

Willie Mitty isnt any good...

so dont say we dont have good choices ...
We only need one good choice...
NEWT
Because the original premise was “IF Romney is our candidate”. That was the only point I was speaking to.
Yes, that is one opinion.
RE: Do you not understand that some of us dont trust that pen in the hands of Willard Mitt Romney ???
Redux Obama ...

Well, on the other hand you have a sure Obama, on the other hand you have someone who could possibly undo SOME or a lot of what Obama did and perhaps more. Between the sure thing and the possibility ( and these are the only two choices come November ), I have no choice but to take the later. To not vote is to take the sure thing. Not going to do that.
President Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but its important for him to give me space.
President Obama: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.
This is weird language. This can be solved? What can be solved, the problem of gutting american missile defense? That seems to be the implication.
It is like the guy is reporting his progress (or lack thereof). It only reinforces my suspicion that his kgb contacts go back a long, long time.
