NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Jaime Alas scored in stoppage time and El Salvador ousted the United States from Olympic qualifying Monday night with a 3-3 tie.
The Americans had to win to reach Saturday's semifinals in Kansas City, Kan., and they led 3-2 on Joe Corona's goal in the 68th minute.
But Alas scored his goal off the hands off keeper Sean Johnson to stun the Americans, who missed the Olympics for the second time since 1976.

We learn both systems in engineering, but mainly we use the SI system. With so many endeavors using multiple countries nowadays, it makes sense to pick one system. During the 60’s, we were way less globalized.

let them change to OUR system the way pilots around the world must speak english...screw the rest of the world....Globalization is for losers.
You seem rather angry about a system of measurements. I think the majority of globalization is a bad idea and hurts America. (i.e jobs, industry, etc) Base 10 is just a more logical system.
we use the base 10
all our high tech engineering is SAE (and other English and American units of various types) utilizing decimals.
I was referring to things like (1 mile = 5280 ft = 1760 yards) vs. ( 1 kilometer = 1000 meters)
I didn’t mean base 10 vs. octal or binary or hexadecimal. I should have clarified that. My bad.
I just think it would we wise for everyone to use one system, even if it’s the English system.

time, for example, is on a base 12 system.
and the reason we have a base ten is that's how many fingers we have etc....

1 mile is also = 1000, 1000ths of a mile.
my micrometers and digital calipers, when I use them on the English setting, reduce inches into tenths, hundredths, thousandths, and so on....
you can break down all units like this...and that is what the US space program and most US engineering, used, in general up until recently.

If you look at its business structure, I think you could argue that the MLS is like a Democrat Congress deciding to create a soccer league. The ownership provisions, the salary limits, etc. are all the sorts of things a government created league would have and most of them would have a negative impact if that league was competing in a situation where there was a free market demand for the product and their competitors were able to act in an unrestricted manner to serve that market.
That was a pretty humorous take on dodge ball. If soccer and synchronized swimming can be an olympic sport, dodge ball ought to be as well.
I would still watch and play dodge ball any time, over soccer. Any day, any time.

You’re right; we now have more players in Europe than before, and they’re learning how to really play - now we just need more of them.
Do you know where most of them are playing? If it’s places like England and Germany, I don’t think that’s going to help us much; it’s too linear a style of play, too similar to what the U.S. does. I want more of our guys playing in Brazil and Argentina and learning the “beautiful game” with all its intricate passing and lateral movement.
Even if the U.S. doesn’t adopt that style of play, we should at least be more familiar with it and thus better able to defend against it.
I think the leagues are mixed enough in Europe where even in England or Germany they’d be playing with South American talent; I’m not sure what the distribution is.
