...Police Say
With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities have revealed to the Orlando Sentinel.
That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.
Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.
In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.
Zimmerman told police he shot the teenager in self-defense.

Police have been reluctant to provided details about all their evidence, but this is what they've disclosed to the Sentinel:
Zimmerman was on his way to the grocery store when he spotted Trayvon walking through his gated community.
Trayvon was visiting his father's fiancée, who lived there. He had been suspended from school in Miami after being found with an empty marijuana baggie. Miami schools have a zero-tolerance policy for drug possession.
Zimmerman called police and reported a suspicious person, describing Trayvon as black, acting strangely and perhaps on drugs.
Zimmerman got out of his SUV to follow Trayvon on foot. When a dispatch employee asked Zimmerman if he was following the 17-year-old, Zimmerman said yes. The dispatcher told Zimmerman he did not need to do that.
There is about a one-minute gap during which police say they're not sure what happened.

He probably needed a drink. I would after this order of events..
This “man” looks like a poofter to me, so I’m sure he knows what it’s like to be a “P*ssy *ss.”
“Wow! It looks like all of Black America owes George Zimmerman an APOLOGY”
That is not how the race game is played.
You must be a victim all the time. Make no mention of the 51 shootings in Chicago or the 90+ couple where the wife was killed and her husband of 65 years beaten nearly to death. Those shootings/beatings do not fit the race card narrative.
With this president the only industry growing is the printing of race cards.
And since when is one’s neighborhood a jungle? Martin was an outsider, in your analogy a rogue mountain lion and we know what happens to mouton lions in the burbs
Thanks, I now see the article. Funny how that happens, maybe to many hits?
Exactly. The 911 operator suggested that Zimmerman not follow Martin. Also, a 911 operator is a 911 operator; not a LEO.
“A lot of what is being reported isn’t worth spit.”
The Orlando media is doing a pretty good job.
The "knockout" game?
Was Trayvon Martin a Drug Dealer?

Z is calling Tray the ugliest names on a recorded 911 call. What if he called this guy minding his own business an ugly name? If you were provoked with the rudest ethnic slur, you might hit the guy. That could have started the whole interaction.
I hate to be on trayvon’s side here but that recording changes things. This is a hate crime now.
If someone called my son that, he could swing a punch if he wanted. Now, smash his brain on the sidewalk, that’s a bit much. But I think slinging ethnic crudeness IS AN ATTACK.

your hypothetical is pointless since it no way describes what is claimed to have happened that night.
“was it smart of Mr Z to ignore the dispatcher and
contiinue to follow young Master M? No.
But disobeying a dispatcher is not evidence of a crime.”
There had been a number of break-ins in the neighborhood by young, Black men and he was concerned that Trayvon might be another burglar. He didn’t disobey the 911 operator. They have no power to compel anyone to do anything. The Sanford PD said it was a suggestion with no legal force of a command.
“Was it murder? No one can say. No witness saw
a murder, nor has video has surfaced till now showing
a murder.”
Actually, there are about six witnesses who all corroborate what they saw happen to Mr. Zimmerman and it lines up with his statements given to police.
“I dont see how this goes anywhere except maybe an action
for conspiracy to deprive him of his civil rights, a federal beef.”
Deprive his civil rights in what way?
“bottom line is that there is no evidence of a crime here,
unless you count Martins attack on Z.”
And if Martin was bashing Zimmerman’s head against the concrete which could have resulted in death do you think that Zimmerman had a right to defend his life with lethal force?
There is not evidence that Martin was engaged in criminal activity when Zimmerman reported his presence to police. So your “save the taxpayers money” argument is hockey pucks. Florida is a death penalty state but does not levy the death penalty for assault (if Zimmerman’s account is 100% factual) nor does it levy it for having been suspended for suspected marijuana possession.
That negates any self defense argument in my book.

Too bad your book (opinion) is meaningless in this issue.
Zimmerman was a legitimate member of a city sanctioned Neighborhood Watch program, he was acting as a member of that sanctioned watch on PRIVATE PROPERTY in a gated community he was member of in a high crime area, and there is no evidence that in any way threatened Martin in any way.
Martin was NOT a resident of the gated community, nor was his Father. It is reputed that his father's fiancee does own a home in the community.
By all witness accounts Martin attacked Zimmerman from behind while Zimmerman was walking back to his truck and then proceeded to beat Zimmerman severely while Zimmerman was on the ground helpless and screaming. Zimmerman sustained a broken nose and lacerations to his head in the attack.
If this holds up, Martin was 100% at fault.
The “ went out for skittles for a Basket ball game” story is inconsistent with the fact that Martins body reputedly went unidentified for three full days before being identified or claimed.
If there was shooting of a black teenager in a gated community and your black teenager went missing at the same time it is reasonable to assume that one would have some concerns about Martin not coming home in time for the game. There seems to be a lot to this story we are not hearing.
“What do you suppose will happen to those T-shirt sales if it turns out witness reports about Martin bashing Zimmerman’s head into the concrete are true?”

They will continue to sell like hotcakes.
Since when have inconvenient facts gotten in the way of the black racist, entitlement agenda?
There's been alot of crime, he's part of the watch group...and is supposed to be on the lookout for ‘suspicious behavior’, he sees an unfamiliar face, this person goes someplace where Zimmerman can't see him from the street (possibly behind buildings).
Is Zimmerman supposed to just sit and do nothing? I have to admit, I would get out of the car, and try to trail the guy, until the police got there.
Now, Zimmerman seems like an over-zealous 911 junkie. I get that. And, he set up a situation - he followed Martin, so Martin walked faster and looked even more suspicious. I get that. Zimmerman set up an awkward situation. But (and this hasn't been proven I know), if Martin attacked Zimmerman, I don't blame Zimmerman. Awkwardly following somebody is weird and uncalled for...but the response to that is not assault. By all accounts, Martin had a phone...if he felt threatened, he could have called the police, the same way Zimmerman did.
He’s/She’s just another one of our beloved, Leftist FReepers that loves to attack with empty accusations but can’t even defend his/her own words. That’s classic Leftism right there!
No it hasn't, it's there.
