Author, Wana Duhart's case study explains Sarah Palins appeal among Conservatives and Republicans.
The contention among the Republican candidates continues to rise as they fight to position themselves as the true front runner. Although Mitt Romney continues to hold a lead over Rick Santorum, according to Public Policy Polling, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin remains the favorite among Republican Party voters. "People, Politics, and Profits: The Ties that Bind Main Street, the Beltway, and Wall Street," an essay written by Wana L. Duhart, provides a case study that explains the emergence and appeal of Sarah Palin and why she remains relevant today.
Sarah Palins appeal, according to Duhart, exposes Beltway elitism and condescension. She goes on to explain that the misconceptions held by elitist factions, regarding their perceived authority to make decisions about the lives of everyday Americans, further substantiate Palins appeal to regular folks and ordinary people. The media establishment is quite frankly scared to death of her and doesnt know what to make of this woman who hails from the great state of Alaska, our last frontier, says Duhart.
The heart of People, Politics, and Profits underscores what she considers the genius of Palin, as she provides a comprehensive look at how the very elitism that is antithetical to Palin's appeal, is the same elitist tendency that is directly and indirectly responsible for wreaking havoc on the lives of many Americans. In her section on Main Street, she examines some of the macro and micro changes that have been devastating for families and the American economy. In Class Warfare: The Elephant in the Room, the author gives voice to a disturbing undercurrent that should be taken seriously by people across income classes and the political spectrum.
The discussions about The Beltway and Wall Street draw the reader back to why Sarah Palin continues to resonate with everyday people -- hardworking Americans reject the strong influence and authority of these powerful and wealthy elitists. As she describes some of the familiar habits and practices of Washington politicians and Wall Street financiers, she reminds us all of how interconnected and dependent they are on each other. Deaf Ears and Blinded Eyes: Hypocritical and Schizophrenic Elected Officials just might make you scream or holler, as Duhart talks about the cozy and conflicting relationships between the Beltway and Wall Street.

A brokered convention would yield a compromise candidate, almost certainly not a conservative. Any hopes/plans to the contrary are just daydreams.
The republican establishment doesn't give a danm whether or not we support Mitt in the general. They win no matter who "wins" the election because that's just they way politics is in this country now.
Anyone who would actually put a stop to our mad race towards insolvency and hyperinflation would not survive long enough to even be sworn in.
Yup.
Sarah Palin did not let me down. She continues to be an active force within the conservative community. I do not own her and slavery was ended in this country long ago. She is free to pursue her life as she will. Am I sorry she didn’t run? You betcha. But the truth is the LSM and the left would have been hammering her ( as did many on this board) for ‘quitting on Alaska...”etc etc.
The fact that she did not want to run is more of an indication of the decline in decency in this country than anything else. Smear and innuendo has killed many a good candidate....
if Sarah had jumped in at the traditional time, the press would have been savaging her and her family the entire time.
if she waits for the convention, and it turns into a brokered convention... then she will have skipped 9 months of liberal media bashing
besides, it’s not like campaigning will bring her any more fame... everyone already knows who she is and her stance on most issues.
And who are any of us to question her decision? She stated openly that it was a decision prayerful made. That is good enough for me. Just because you think she should have felt called does not mean that God had that in mind. I trust her enough to trust that her decision was exactly the right one
It was her decision and I don’t like to second guess, but it certainly is disappointing that she didn’t run. Perhaps in 2016 she will feel differently.
For the last two years, “generic republican” has been the strongest candidate against Obama in all the polls.
HA-Ha, that is what she wanted all along, to be more popular than the others. That is why she didnt run. Of course the fools that swore that she was RUNNING for those 2+years didnt see it.
Because she didn’t run they can continue their ‘If only Sarah ran’ song forever. In fact many kept repeating that they wanted her to run because she would win, but they didn’t actually demand that she run covering themselves for the etermal FNC candidate song. “Sarah 2016” ??
Libs love to look back and say ‘If only JFK lived’
I was a big fan until she declined to run.
She did run and now we don’t know how well she would have done. If it were these four left and her she would win.
I meant She did not run.
Unfortunately, if the current trend continues, once again, their rino mascot will lead the GOP to slaughter.
And this time, Lord forgive me, I won't vote for their rino, not if it's Romney.
I’d love to believe that but if that’s the case then why isn’t Newt doing better? It’s clear who she favors with these candidates yet it appears not to have persuaded any of the voters.
Just my opinion.

The most popular player on a losing football team is the 2nd String quarterback.
This election season has been full of all sorts of surprises. This is far from over, after the contested convention and the GOP has their a$$es handed to them.
Can you say Newt/Sarah?
They have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and they are blaming every body but themselves for the cause.
“Sarah Palin. The only Republican I trust.”
If you listen to her speeches and Newt’s (and I have) you’d be surprised at how much they discuss the same topics in the same ways with the same issues and the same solutions.
And both of them have proven records showing that they are not just talking heads.
I really feel that the best for America is a Newt/Sarah ticket. Because the only person I believe that will followup with Newt’s eight years and keep the ball rolling in the right direction is Sarah who will have had eight years in the administration and NO ONE can say she didn’t have the experience necessary even though I think she’s qualified now anyway.
That is my golden ticket.
