Failure of Rosie O'Donnell's show on Oprah Winfrey's network is evidence that OWN has problems

The Rosie O’Donnell show was supposed to be the magnet that would draw big numbers of viewers to Oprah Winfrey’s OWN cable network — before it ended up a big flop.

Insiders blame the failure of the show on a lack of support from the network, and a lack of experience on the part of Winfrey’s Harpo-based team doing anything other than a show built around Winfrey.

“Initially, we had a lot of support,” says one show insider, who can’t be named because of a confidentiality agreement. “The first week we heard everything went well. But after the premiere week we started to hear less and less from OWN.”

Winfrey and her team were banking on O’Donnell to pull viewers into the fledgling network as it struggled to get an audience.

Can't imagine why anyone would want to watch an unfunny, angry shrew who enjoys throwing her militant lesbianism around.

I think I saw that show- was it back in the 1980’s? Was that the show when the white socialite was talking to Oprah and the audience and was trying to justify the use of the N-word.

I remember her saying, “White people can be N-s too, Oprah isn’t the only one.”

The look on Orca’s face was priceless.

I now wonder that about JCP.

I know many formerly faithful JCP shoppers who are now questioning even walking through their doors any more. Why in the world would any major company choose a lesbian to represent their company and be the face of it? Especially an ‘in your face gay’ lesbian who demands that you accept her choice or you are the bad guy.

So much for supporting the company all those years and being a faithful shopper. I guess it is just too much to put a wholesome Christian on the front of catalogues or on the headlining show. Wouldn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea about a company’s values.

They could have at least been honest and called it the “Mad Cow Hour”. Rosie O’Donnell is a well known role model for the mentally ill.

I agree. The moment she publicly supported Obama was her undoing. Up until then she was rather well liked but then came the moment that she alienated 50% of her audience. She has never recovered.

My younger son is mentally ill (schizoaffective disorder) - trust me, she is NOT his role model.

So what subject does Rosie have any credibility on?
Why would anyone watch her?

How much of the MSM’s lovefest for Obama could be attributed to their desire to please Oprah 2007?

If leftists in entertainment did not have an effective black list banning conservative talent, the Left everywhere would be out of business. Monopolies can only stay in business if they freeze out the opposition.

Don't know if I have seen the JCP MO by Rosie. They probably figured they were appealing to Oprah fans - or something. Whatever; more, amazingly bad judgment at work!

(IT is ALL more than a bit insulting; what they imagine is the mindset of their 'now' clientele; ; and in Oprah's case; her audience; whether this 'market' is already educated into this 'world view'; or about to be; thanks to their efforts.)

Actually, Ellen Degeneres is their spokesMAN now. Still wondering how she best represents what JCP stands for.

JCP has already lost my MIL’s business. The last time we went in, the store was empty. I mean, seriously, what are they thinking??!! Do they really think- looking at the demographics of their shoppers- middle aged and older, hardworking women - are going to want to be lured into the store by a lesbian?

When I see Ellen D, I see someone who was angry at people like me who didn’t agree with her lifestyle. I was silent about it but she raged out loud. And I found it very offensive. So there.

OWN is considered a “premium” channel for many cable companies (I don't know about satellite TV). This is a good thing. At least I won't be forced to watch this loser as part of my basic cable package — having MTV, VH1, and Univision, and BET are bad enough — not mentioning the shopping channels.
