DOJ charges release of ‘Gunwalker’ reports impedes investigations

“The latest twist in the tug of war over Department of Justice documents central to the investigation of Operation Fast and Furious came Friday evening, when a top Justice official refused a congressional request for subpoenaed documents and blamed GOP lawmakers over the leaking of sensitive information,” CNN reported Friday.

In a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-California, and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich suggested that sensitive information relating to ongoing investigations is coming from their staffs.

“Late Friday, Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General Ron Weich warned Issa, ‘We are deeply disturbed that the sensitive law enforcement information…has entered the public realm,’” William La Jeunesse of Fox News revealed. Advertisement

He said it is impeding the DOJ’s prosecution of current criminal cases arising from Fast and Furious.

A Congressional spokesperson for Issa made no apologies, saying the documents being leaked to the committee “are precisely what the Justice Department is hiding and what congressional investigators are seeking – basic information about who knew what when about Fast and Furious.”

Weich was the Justice Department official who claimed in a Feb. 4, 2011 letter to Sen. Grassley that “the allegation…that ATF ‘sanctioned’ or otherwise knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser who then transported them to Mexico—is false.”

“I also want to assure you,” Weich wrote in the letter obtained by Mike Vanderboegh of the Sipsey Street Irregulars blog and Gun Rights Examiner, “that ATF has made no attempt to retaliate against any of its agents regarding this matter.”

This was the letter that was later formally withdrawn—a remarkable, almost unprecedented occurrence—due to “inaccuracies,” meaning it was not truthful.

Vanderboegh* and this column have obtained a copy of this latest Weich letter, posted in this correspondent’s Scribd account

Operation Fast and Furious investigation escalates as ATF, FBI disconnect revealed

By William Lajeunesse

Published March 24, 2012 | FoxNews.com

The investigation of Operation Fast and Furious escalated this past week as Fox News learned a leak at the Justice Department is providing documents to the Congressional investigators.

The scope of investigation also includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which records show failed to tell ATF its own confidential informants were helping finance the illegal gun purchases.

Eduardo and Jesus A. Miramontes-Varela, Mexican nationals born in Juarez worked for the Sinaloa Cartel when they became informants for the FBI in 2009, according to sources.

Of course you're disturbed. Crooked politician, thieves and murderers - but I repeat myself - are always disturbed when they're caught.

This whole cold-blooded, drawn-out affair just goes to prove how far distanced our federal government has become from it's citizenry, and how powerful their influence is that "justice" can be stalled in even the most clear-cut cases of murderous corruption.

Gangster Government, and Sakharov’s Immunity

Imagine for a moment if President Nixon’s men, when called before the committees investigating the Watergate scandal, had provided less than twenty percent of subpoenaed documents after a full year of ignoring requests and congressional pleadings. Then further imagine that among the twenty percent of the documents that were provided to Congress, hundreds of pages were “fully redacted,” or completely blacked out. Black paper, by the ream.

In diplo-speak, this is leaning across the witness table toward the congressional investigators, giving them two middle fingers and a hearty, “F-— you, you punks, what are you going to do about it?”

Then imagine if the New York Times, the Washington Post and the television networks never mentioned Watergate or the hearings, except rarely, and then only to refer to the congressional investigators as partisan hacks on witch-hunts, simply bent on destroying the nation’s beloved President Nixon and stopping his good works. In this alternate reality, Woodward and Bernstein never got a Watergate by-line, but instead they were sent to cover the new “ecology” movement and Earth Day.

Reverse the party polarity, jump ahead four decades to today, and that is the current sad state of American reality. Gangsters rule the federal government; the Operation Fast And Furious congressional investigators are ineffectual, toothless buffoons, and their spineless congressional leaders even balk at further investigation of the deadly scandal.

In the modern case of Operation Fast and Furious, hundreds of Mexicans were murdered as a necessary pre-condition for a desired political outcome, the undercutting of Second Amendment rights in America. From the outset, the administration’s goal was to bury our Right to Keep and Bear Arms beneath a growing mountain of Mexican corpses. The innocent murdered Mexicans were not collateral damage of Operation Fast and Furious, they were the intended targets from the start.

Murdergate, plain and simple.

Dear readers, it does not get more evil than that.

Attorney General Holder and his lieutenants have repeatedly lied and are repeatedly caught lying, so they make up more lies, bald-face lies, contradicted by email records and their own words. But no charges of perjury ensue from Congress, only more extensions of meaningless deadlines to produce the subpoenaed documents and all of the witnesses who have been called to testify, but who have simply refused to appear.

Two middle fingers, and a hearty “F-— you.”

The law is justice — simple and clear, precise and bounded. Every eye can see it, and every mind can grasp it; for justice is measurable, immutable, and unchangeable. Justice is neither more than this nor less than this. If you exceed this proper limit — if you attempt to make the law religious, fraternal, equalizing, philanthropic, industrial, literary, or artistic — you will then be lost in an uncharted territory, in vagueness and uncertainty, in a forced utopia or, even worse, in a multitude of utopias, each striving to seize the law and impose it upon you.

Once started, where will you stop? And where will the law stop itself?

The Law - Frederic Bastiat 1801-1850

I think Jeff Kuhner of the Washington Times sums up this Congress when he stated that Congress will do nothing to help us, and Boehner is the worst. He thwarts investigations, plays golf with Obama, and only cares about himself.

Having DOJ anywhere involved in any investigation into F&F is like having the President of NAMBLA leading a criminal investigation into a pedophilia charge of another NAMBLA member.

Of course they won’t find anything wrong.

The investigation needs to include members of the firearms industry and other people who are knowledgeable in the field of firearms, firearms laws, etc.

BATFE set the stage for the perfect witnesses to destroy them when they tried putting their boot on the industry. Now, many of us in the industry know the laws better than the BATFE. Considering how volatile this matter is to the industry, we had BETTER be consulted on F&F.

Uh, since "investigations" in DOJ speak actually means "illicit schemes to politically fight conservatism (thugs at the voting location, etc) and screw everyone, lib and conservative alike, out of their Constitutional rights (F&F, etc)", isn't that actually a GOOD thing?

It is sad times for our country.

Maybe I am wrong, I sure hope so but it appears the Marxists, Extreme Socialists, radical progressives or whatever the right name is, have taken over the nation.

The election of Obama was the final straw. All they are doing now is consolidating their power.

Even if a Republican is elected next time there is little difference between them and Obama.

I have no idea what Issa is doing. He may be a good man who simply can’t overcome all the obstacles. or he may be simply unwilling to make the kind of fuss it would take to get it into the public eye.

Whatever the reason, the criminals in office now are not going to be held to any kind of justice.

If only a single Georges Picquart would come forth from one of the major media outlets the whole thing would maybe blow up, but it appears there are none.

Major Dreyfus will die a lonely death on Devil’s Island instead.

Rumor has it that Boehner is thwarting the Issa investigation....of course, Boehner denied it....through his tears....
