President Barack Obama weighed in on the "tragedy" of Trayvon Martin's death last week, saying it is "absolutely imperative" that all levels of government investigate "every aspect" of how the unarmed boy was shot.
"I can only imagine what these parents are going through," Obama said, adding "When I think about this boy I think about my own kids."
"I am glad that not only is the Justice Department is looking into this, but the Governor of the State of Florida has put together a task force [to investigate the case]," Obama said. Obama carefully avoided any discussion of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin, and has controversially avoided arrest under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense laws.
"My main message is to the parents: If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves."

Phone records have been released showing that Martin was talking to his girl friend for throughout his walk to the store. She has said that he complained about the guy following him and that she told him to run - which according to Zimmerman's taped call, he did.
Bottom line...there is absolutely nothing that indicates anything other than a 17 year old walking home from the store while talking to his GF.
As for your hypothetical scenario...
Once the hypothetical black guy put his hands on the hypothetical white kid (who was not committing any crime), the kid would have every right to defend himself and the black guy would be guilty of some degree of murder if he shot him.
Race doesn't matter at all.

It would seem the victim shouted for help prior to the gun shot, but it also could’ve been the perp (on neighborhood watch) calling for help.
