Police to ignore California impound law amid concern of fairness to illegal immigrants
By William Lajeunesse
Published March 22, 2012 | FoxNews.com
The Los Angeles Police Department will soon start ignoring California state law, which requires police to impound the vehicles of unlicensed drivers for 30 days.
The majority of unlicensed motorists in Los Angeles are immigrants who are in the country illegally and have low-income jobs. The LAPD says the state's impound law is unfair because it limits their ability to get to their jobs and imposes a steep fine to get their car back.
As long as drivers can produce some form of I.D., proof of insurance and vehicle registration, they'll be allowed to keep their car. Police Chief Charlie Beck insists that it's simply leveling the playing field.
"It's about fairness. It's about equal application of the law," Beck told a Los Angeles TV station earlier this month.

You know, I think we should propose they don't follow through with arresting cop killers in LA because the poor disenfranchised murders can't get to their jobs if they're in prison. You know, to be fair. /s

I need to drop 10 feet onto my head a couple times. Maybe then this new world disorder will begin to make logical sense.

The LAPD says the state's impound law is unfair because it limits their ability to get to their jobs and imposes a steep fine to get their car back. What jobs? Illegals cant have jobs. Its illegal for them to have jobs.
Isnt a fine supposed to discourage people from breaking the law? So if the illegals know you are not going to impound their car isnt that in effect encouraging illegals to break the law.
Doesnt this fact that they will only enforce this law against lawful residents of the US violate the equal protection of the law clause of the 14th amendment.

Houston’s changing their laws on drinking in public downtown too, bragging that they are adding “tailgating” to “all” of Houston’s sports stadiums just as the esoccer estadium is about to open.
No sense in writing a bunch of tickets to people who don’t use their real names and who law enforcement don’t want to prosecute anyway.
Nation of scofflaw immigrants.

If I get hit by an illegal alien in Los Angeles whose car was not towed because of this, I will sue the city.

The majority of unlicensed motorists in Los Angeles are immigrants who are in the country illegally and have low-income jobs. One of Mexico's greatest strengths are the billions wired home by migrant workers in the United States.
How many of those with low (reported) income and are receiving government assistance are sending money "they desperately need" out of the country?

impound law is unfair because it limits their ability to get to their jobs DEPORT their ILLEGAL @$$e$ and they can get to their job in Mexico.
So when are bank robbery laws going to be unfair to bank robbers? Rape laws unfair to rapists? Murder laws unfair to murderers?
Answer: When the perp is ILLEGAL.

As long as LEO and bureaucrats are free to pick and choose which laws to enforce, citizens should be free to choose which laws they will obey and which to ignore.

In a just world, Police Chief Beck would be fired, tarred and feathered, and run out on a rail. I’d settle for 2 out of 3. Didn’t this twit swear an oath to “uphold the laws”... or was that just more of a guideline? How does he pick which laws to enforce?

So the police now are deciding which laws to enforce and which not to enforce at their own discretion.
Sounds like one hell of a class action lawsuit in the works.

Oh, and God forbid we use self defense and then get sued in “ambiguous” situations.
