Media Matters Launches New Ad Campaign Slamming Rush Limbaugh

March 22, 2012
Despite the media firestorm surrounding Rush Limbaugh having died down, the conservative radio host isn't off the hook just yet.
According to the Washington Times, the liberal watchdog group Media Matters has launched a $100,000 ad campaign criticizing the host for calling Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and "prostitute" after she testified before the House on contraception.
The ads are currently being broadcast in eight cities, with some urging listeners to tell their local radio stations to take Limbaugh's show off the air and including the telephone numbers of stations broadcasting Limbaugh's show.
In response, Premier Radio Networks, which syndicates Limbaugh's show, released the following statement:
"This is part of an organized political campaign by professional special interest groups being waged to silence Rush Limbaugh and intimidate those who want to advertise on his show. This is not about women, its not about ethics, and its not about the nature of our public discourse its a direct attack on Americas guaranteed First Amendment right to free speech. Its essentially a call for censorship masquerading as high-minded indignation and its a blatant political attempt to silence an enormously popular, influential voice because they dont like his point of view."

(I suggest you call the radio station and express your support for Rush)

I suppose attacking Rush’s advertisers has failed to dislodge him from radio. So now the liberals are trying to go after radio stations. I called the AM770 station and thanked them for continuing to broadcast Rush’s talk show.
When Obama was told there was a white 23 year old girl that enjoyed sex a lot - he called in minutes when she needed comforting.
When will Obama call Trayvon’s mom?
True on two counts. Fluke didn't testify; she wasn't sworn. And Fluke wasn't before the a Committee of the House of Representatives; she was before the House Democratic Steering Committee.
This is because the Democrats tried to pull a fast one. The Democrats' original witness for the actual hearing was the Rev. Barry Lynn, the head of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. At 4:30 p.m. the afternoon before the hearing, the Democrats announced that they wanted Sandra Fluke instead. This violated the 72-hour-notice rule, under which one party has to give the other party at least 72 hours' notice of the identity of its witnesses, so they can be vetted.
The Republicans said "no deal, we don't have time to vet Sandra Fluke." The Democrats told Rev. Lynn not to appear.
A few days after the real hearing, the Democratic Steering Committee held the press conference/hearing for Fluke ("poor Fluke, who wasn't allowed to testify") and the media ate it up.
I'll note, however, that Fluke never said a word about her sex life, about whether she uses or has ever used contraception, or how much she pays for contraception. She told stories about other women, most of them ridiculous. For example, a woman who was raped didn't seek STD tests because she assumed that if contraception wasn't covered, post-rape STD tests wouldn't be. And for that reason, religiously-affiliated institutions should be required to provide contraception in health coverage? A married woman said she couldn't afford contraception in her budget. Fluke didn't say oral contraception, just contraception. Had the married woman heard of free condoms? States with a $9/month program for oral contraception? Planned Parenthood? Again, for this we forced religiously-affiliated institutions to provide contraception in health coverage?
But her own sex life or contraception? Fluke said nada. Rush Limbaugh made up all of the stories about Fluke talking or making claims about her own sex life. Then he called her a slut for having all of the sex that he made up.
Do you suppose Rush has bought MM and is using them to get publicity and increase his audience?
Yes.
Huh? What the hell are you talking about? You might try reading a little slower:)
The local gal here on Maui that is heading up the “Get rid of Rush from the radio movement” Is an operative and high ranking member of the local Democratic Party. I would guess that she doesn’t give a damn about the Slut, but just wants Rush to go away.
That was on 2/29. He said she was 'round-heeled' instead. After saying she was round-heeled, Limbaugh said something like "she's not a slut, I take it back." However, he came back again on 3/1 and used the slut term several times in reference to Fluke without taking it back that day.
'Round-heeled' would likely constitute per se defamation in the states that recognize either civil or criminal per se defamation for untrue comments demeaning a woman's sexual virtue, so I don't think that's a peg Limbaugh would want to hang his hat on. The catch is that it's unlikely there would be specific precedent; there are cases on the exact word 'slut.'
He's better off sticking with a 'limited-purpose public figure' defense and claiming that he wasn't acting with reckless indifference to the truth on 3/1 when he continued to speak as if Fluke had talked about her sex life.
Brocks sexual orientation is not the issue. Making fun of it just lowers us to the level of the Lefts personal attack strategy. We can do better.
There is utterly no need to mention that he is a giggling little donut-puncher, or a skipping lavender-scented pillow-biter. We do not need to mention that Brock is a pearl-necklace adorned tumblebunny, nor do we need to say he is a limp-wristed prancing knob-jockey.
Never will it cross my keyboard to mention that Brock is a petal-covered swishing basket-burglar, and you will have to wait a long time to see me say that Brock is a effeminate queenie-baby genuflecting chicken licker.
No, you will never see me post that Brock is a loafer-lightening grass-tickling pounder of fudge. NEVER! No, sir, you will not see me calling Brock a stool-pushed jolly-ranching graduate of the Assmasters school of backseat driving.
No sir. We are better than that.
If she were a "slut" she'd buy her own birth control or go to a school or get insurance that provided it for her, like other people, and we wouldn't be talking about her.
Fluke's an ideologue, a "cause person" who wants the government to override the schools remaining religious scruple and that's the problem.
ROTFLOL
She's an activist..She's a socialist, marxist, leftist, Democrat.
What else is new?
She's just a fellow traveler..doing her thing.
No, but Mark, Ed and SGT Sam had two other articles I have missed on FR. One was about a teacher in some NE city who divided his class into four groups and gave them assignments to find weaknesses in each (R) candidate. They were to come up with ways to defeat each candidate. Their findings were to be sent to the 0 dumber reelection team. This was back in January.
The other article was about a TEA Party Marine SGT who is getting demoted and will be booted out of the corp. He started a facebook page and said he would defend the Constitution and never obey a unlawful order. Needless to say, I was PO'ed.
“Allow me to excerpt the story for you:...Sandra Fluke a slut and prostitute...
Allow me to do a little adjustment to your post:
Sandra “Puke” a slut and prostitute...
As a woman, this thin-skin/pc nonsense is crazy. Guess SNL would have to scrap the Dan Akroyd “point/counter point” sketch that made “Jane, you ignorant slut” a common joke back in the day.
I find the “c” word that Lefties Bill Mahr and Ed Schultz have used far more offensive.
Where is the outcry about the ABC series “GCB” which means Good Christian Bitches? Or how about the billboard for the new ABC show “Apt 23” that has the words “Don’t trust the
B___ in Apt 23”.
I did catch those stories — both of which I found dismaying.......
Glenn Beck is jealous. He’s been trying so hard to be significant...
Yes I’m glad you didn’t say any of those things. I might have died laughing...
