“Shame” presupposes the profession of some set of values that deprecates failure to achieve them and celebrates their attainment. No such values exist in Hollywood, so shame is a concept foreign to its citizens.
She should be ashamed because the cover picture of a naked pregnant movie start is such a cliche.
I think we need to see the evidence
I teach at a medical vocational school (for high school grads), and I can attest that almost 1/4 if not 1/2 of my students have had illegitimate children, and, more than likely, they're "engaged to a man who doesnt even love her enough to marry her.
Simpson had a fine husband whom she tossed out for no reason at all. Her life has been a sleazy mess ever since.
Not guilty!!
The best thing to do in today’s world, as a Christian, is to ignore and keep away from the immoral world of celebrity. Television, movies, and all that is associated with the cult of personality is anathema to the Christian and should be avoided. An occasional television program that edifies the viewer is fine, but the moral sewer that is glorified in today’s reality television and general programming does harm to the walk of the Christian in the world. Celebrities, despite their pandering to “values”, primarily worship themselves- they cannot help it. They are celebrities which means they are idolized by millions and are used to an entourage of people salivating at their heels. That kind of lifestyle , one that is egocentric to the extreme, is very damaging. My advice is to read books on the interesting lives of missionaries instead of worrying what immoral people like Jessica Simpson are doing.
My mother use to call women like this, SLUTS.
Yeah -- desperately trying to hold onto her fame now that everyone has moved on to the next cute young thing.
The writer sounds like a typical ‘busybody’ that needs to mind their own damn business. They’d be relieved to not carry around the burdens of worrying about what Jessica Simpson is doing....
She desperately wants to be accepted. She’ll do anything she can to keep her face in the limelight. I remember that John Mayer described her as “sexual napalm”. That pretty much sums up her motivation driven by the Daddy issues she got from her papa Joe.
TTIWWP..............
Of course she should be ashamed.
However, the concepts of shame and sin, once the bedrock of civilized Christianity, are no longer even considerations.
We can thank the tidal wave of nonjudgmental, moral equivalence wrought by the Leftist counterculture starting in the 1960s, for our current residence in an abject moral sewer.
Call me old fashioned, but I don’t see the attractiveness of a nude pregnant woman. I tnink pregnant women in public should wear the clothes designed for them.
It’s a copy of Demi Moore’s Vanity Fair cover, done for publicity.
Sounds like a Fluke to me.
she should be ashamed for copyright infringement (Demi Moore posed for an almost identical cover twenty years ago)
Yeah, like Daisy Duke shorts. Good ol' traditional late 1970s values.
I think the reason is simpler than that. She was raised by wealthy parents who spoiled her, and as such she never developed “common sense skills”. Thus she often comes across as either very ignorant or stupid.
I have met people like this before, and their level of naivete is appalling. At some point they are often confronted by something so far outside their experience that they are captivated by the idea. Often in a self destructive way.
One such was a girl raised by again wealthy parents in a small, isolated community. She was raised to her parents likes and dislikes, with very little exposure to the real world. But eventually she got out, in this case she attended a public high school. Her “mind was blown” by the different lives of others, especially those from very poor and troubled backgrounds.
When she left her home state to attend college, education was the last thing on her mind. Instead she had to learn about such people, to *know* their enigmatic, to her, reality.
One street-smart young man remarked that “she was on her way down”, and that, until she “hit bottom”, and either recovered or died, she was a hazard to herself and everyone around her. He was quite correct.
She went on a hard drinking, hobo tour of the West coast with another girl from a bad background. Eventually though, she came to her senses, and her curiosity satisfied, she went home. Nobody knew what happened to her after that.
So to try and apply a moral standard to such people is really operating at a much higher level than they are capable. Until they fail they cannot succeed. We can but hope that there is some “life redemption” for them, because until then there is little or no chance for spiritual redemption.
